DI is a world-class organisation that supports policy and decision-making at the heart of the Ministry of Defence and the government’s national security community. In DI, our people solve problems, create understanding, and give perspective to the diverse and complex threats and challenges in a rapidly changing world. DI is responsible for providing strategic intelligence support to senior decision makers in Defence and wider UK government.

This intelligence analyst role is based in the Defence Intelligence Africa and Middle East Centre (DI AMEC). DI AMEC works against some of the region’s most fast-moving and varied problem sets. The role will allow the analyst to become a subject matter expert on certain countries the Middle East, accessing and analysing sensitive data and assessing complex geo-political, security and military matters. This puts the analyst in a position to deliver expertise and insight that makes a tangible difference to government and Defence policy as well as the safety of our country.

This position is challenging, but incredibly rewarding, working with a mixed military and civilian team that provides critical expertise and insight at the beating heart of UK Defence. As the holder of this post, you will be at the forefront of the defence and national security agenda and will provide insight at the top of the pyramid, including regular briefings to Ministers and Defence Chiefs.

  • Building subject matter expertise for a specific area of responsibility, maintaining a high level of situational awareness, using all resources available
  • Producing DI reports, publications and visual products.

  • Working with partners across government, including the wider intelligence community and major government departments
  • Engaging with the UK’s allies abroad, including the 5EYES community. This provides opportunity for regular travel.
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with a wide spectrum of customers and ensure intelligence output is aligned to their requirements.
