Task requirements

The Defence Academy delivers world-class edu and trg to leaders in order to develop the intellectual edge needed for success on operations and leadership in government.

This role promotes the effective use of modelling, simulation and wargaming as a means of improving cognitive processes by providing SME advice, instruction and thought leadership across UK Defence. and has specific responsibilities for:

Deliver DSAT compliant MOD Modelling & Simulation (M&S) educational courses at all levels to meet Defence priorities and requirements.
Act as technology focus / SME in Defence M&S and Wargaming for DCMCI.
Provide M&S advice and support to the Defence Simulation and Modelling Office (DMSO) as required.
Provide M&S and Wargaming advice to wider MOD, PAGs (including HOCs, DE&S and Industry), Allies and Partner Nations in support of Defence and National interests.
Provide line management support to subordinates within CoC.
Provide directed research, SME advice and delivery support to the Academic Partner (AP) in line with the AP Contract.
Act as the link DS for S&M- and Wargame-related MOD bespoke training, including OGDs, Allies and Partner Nations, and AP Private Venture courses.
Support wider educational course delivery at the Defence Academy, through the use of Simulation, Modelling and Wargaming, to generate specified learning outcomes.
Promote an inclusive culture within area of responsibility, working to increase understanding and engagement through education and initiative.

Essential competencies

ICSC (Intermediate Command and Staff Course)

DHET (Defence Higher Education Training)

DSM (Defence Simulation and Modelling) MSc or Simulation

Desirable competencies

Defence Learning Environment Role Training

Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE or PGCAPHE)
