Primary Role within the Unit:

To act as the Head of Group for LCU craft, implementing the highest Engineering Standards relating to maintenance tasks and administration. To maintain good order and regularity wrt all subordinates within ES Tp, supporting the Chain of Command at all times.

Principle tasks:

To monitor the equipment in their charge by vetting the associated registers, logs and maintenance schedules, UMMS tasks, conducting daily rounds of all running machinery and areas of responsibility in their Group.

  • a. To ensure the R2 capability of the LCU craft are maintained, ensuring all defects that effect R2 are brought to the attention of the WO OPS / OC ES, (other than those of a minor nature). 
  • b. To monitor the competence of those who operate and maintain equipment, and to ensure that current machinery operating instructions are displayed adjacent to machinery.
  • c. To enforce safety precautions as laid down in BRd 3000 Chapter 3 and BRd 167, paying particular attention to ensuring that systems under maintenance are ‘Tagged Out’ in accordance with the latest instructions.
  • d. To ensure that all machinery and logistics state boards in the engineering office and on MOSS are updated daily.
  • e. To deploy on operations as directed by OC ES in support of 1 AGRM.
  • f. To complete all maintenance on time time or raise the relavent feedback and notify the WOET.
    g. To ensure the preservation, cleanliness and good order of their sections.
  • h. To be conversant with the appropriate sections of BRd 1313 for the conduct of maintenance, servicing and control of tools (including ASE).
  • i. To be familiar with all aspects of stores and spare gear. To ensure their proper use and control and to monitor all demands in accordance with BRd 1313 and JSP 886.
  • j. To conduct Section reviews of the Sections within his Group at regular intervals.

Secondary Roles:

Be a Duty Senior iaw DRO’s.

Divisional Officer as directed by OC ES. 

Must be an OR7 of the Marine Engineering specialisation. OR6 applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent SJAR will be considered. 

OR8 applicants, if successful, will only be paid as and normally wear the rank of OR7.

a. ME287 POET Power and Generation.
b. ME436a UMMS planner.
c. ME438C LCU Mk10 maintainer.
d. CMS Green skills.
e. RNLA 106 Divisional Officer.
f. Medical Risk Assessor.
g. CBRNDC 23 Level 2 First Aid.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

a. DTTT Defence Train the Trainer.

Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Following interviews; the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.

INITIAL COMMITMENT LENGTH WILL BE 24 MONTHS WITH POTENTIAL TO EXTEND

NB: Where the Anticipated Start date has already passed, the start date will be ASAP


Eligibility for FTRS/ADC

Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.

Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rate, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rate or more above or one rate only below the advertised rate. Applicants one rate below may be employed in the acting higher rate (excluding the advertised rate of WO2 or WO1) if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rate then the rate worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.

Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged P8 Permanently Unsuitable Naval Service through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.

Ex-Regular Reserves other ranks of an equivalent rank from sister services may apply, however will have to transfer to the RFR and conduct a period of Marinisation if they are selected as the preferred candidate.
