A vacancy has arisen for a Corporal (Any) to serve as JNCO North based out of the North but belonging/reporting to Headquarters RAF Recruiting and Selection (R&S) RAF Cranwell on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 February 2023 (or earlier). 

RAF R&S’ Mission is to attract and select for training the diversity, quantity and quality of people necessary to sustain RAF operational capability.  JNCO North will work within HQ R&S Reserves Recruiting Team Coord to support Royal Auxiliary Air Force (RAuxAF) Sqns to select and recruit Part-Time Volunteer Reservists (PTVRs).

Specifically, upon successful completion of the RAF Recruiting Course at RAF Cranwell (unless already completed), JNCO North will be responsible through SNCO Reserves Recruiting Team Coord (SNCO RRT Coord) to SO2 Reserves Recruiting for the following aspects of Recruitment and Selection:

•    Acting as the subject matter expert and interfacing with the Reserve Sqns/RSWs to ensure commonality of approach and delivery of Res recruitment.

•    Deliver spt to sqns/RSWs providing end to end processing spt and spt to events if/as required.  During periods of absence/surge undertaking the following processing activities:

a.    Processing new Hand-offs.
b.    Administration of all event bookings including Capita, PJFT.
c.    Administering BSVR checks.
d.    Processing new Sy clearance applications.
e.    Attending/assisting with administration relating to Info Days.
f.    Assist in the running of DAA and administer Specialisation (Trade) Counselling.
g.    Undertake SI/FI and assist with associated administration.
h.    Assist in compilation/staffing of various waivers as appropriate/endorsed.
i.    Conduct/assist with attestation events.
j.    Engage with MedCen staff to complete JMES on F1047a.
k.    Assist if required/authorised with sqn engagement, outreach, marketing activity.

•    Develop effective working relationships with all associated stakeholders including but not limited to RPMC, R&S CGT, Sqns/RSWs, Capita, Nuffield Health, R&S Marketing, Sqn parent unit staffs, AFCOs/Hubs, OASC Control, P2 Processing, Restore, Disclosures.

•    Understand roles and laydown of all sqns/RSWs in respective area.

•    Undertake Management Checks as directed by SNCO RRT Coord.

•    Invigilate Interviews as required to ensure proficiency of sqn/RSW recruiters.
 
•    Provide adequate mentoring for all new Res sqns/RSW recruiters as directed by SNCO RRT Coord.

•    Undertake routine, regular sqn engagement visits to discuss matters of the moment, current pipeline status and any issues .

•    Report any issues/concerns to SNCO RRT Coord.

•    Ensure all Res ICCs are completed in an efficient and timely manner.

•    Attendance at conferences, meetings, workshops, training events as required.

•    Any other spt activities as required by SO2 Reserves & Rejoiners.

  • Must either have been, or currently be, a Corporal - Any Profession.
  • Confident and clear verbal skills, able to engage effectively, supportively and enthusiastically with civilian applicants.
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently, without direct Line Management (Hybrid working).
  • Strong attention to detail, with proven ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Able to prioritise a busy workload.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Able to build effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Good IT skills (including MS Office applications particularly MS Excel).
  • Must be prepared to travel to undertake visits to RAuxAF sqns/RSWs throughout UK.
  • Possess a full UK driving licence. 
  • Have recent RAF recruiting experience. Dependant on time out of recruiting the selected candidate may be required to undertake the RAF Recruiting Course.
  • Candidates to have an in-depth knowledge of RAF Reserves and RAF Regular Careers opportunities.
  • Cert RP qualified.
  • A sound working knowledge of current RAuxAF sqn/RSW laydown and roles.
  • An understanding of PTVR TCoS or experience as a PTVR.
  • Experience of working with external partner agencies.

Unless already enlisted in the Reserve Air Forces the successful applicant will be required to be enlisted in the Royal Air Force Reserves with a liability for call-out for permanent service.

The appointment is on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) TCoS in accordance with AP 3392 Vol 7 Part 1 and AP3392 Vol 7 Part 3 Chapter 2 for an initial period of up to 31 Mar 25.

Confirmation of appointment will depend on successful completion of a RAF Medical Board.  Personnel who do not meet the Age/Permanent Joint Medical Employment Standard (PJMES) may apply for the appointment but will only be considered subject to an executive waiver process on a case-by-case basis.

Regular Service Applicants.  Personnel currently serving in the Regular Royal Air Force should be mindful of the current Early Termination Minimum Waiting Time (MWT) for their respective Rank, Profession and ensure this MWT is compatible with the post sponsor’s proposed start date, prior to applying.

Ex-service candidates who have been administratively discharged through the QR1027 process will have their applications rejected as they are not eligible to join the RAF Reserves in accordance with AP 3391 (Vol 3, Lft 207, Annex L, Para 1a).

Pension Issues.  Personnel who qualify for a service pension should take financial advice from Defence Business Services (DBS) Pensions Department on the effect that undertaking reserve service has on their pension (details can be found on the JPA splash screen). Of particular note is reference to the ‘Effect of Re-employment’ on Commutation and, for those leaving on a ‘preserved’ pension, the Resettlement Grant.

Transition between TCoS.  Personnel taking this appointment from other TCoS should consider the impact on any accrued entitlements, such as leave, resettlement etc and should seek specialist guidance where required as certain entitlements are TCoS specific and may not be retained or transferred on transition between TCoS. 

Flexible Working Arrangements. In accordance with the Flexible Working (FW) Policy, Reserve personnel can request FW arrangements with their line manager.  Any immediate FW requirements should be agreed with the line management at the interview stage.

Individual Reinforcement Training (IRT) (Module 1) and RAF Fitness Test (RAFFT).  Reserve personnel are required to maintain currency in IRT and the RAFFT iaw the relevant TCoS.  The successful applicant will be expected to undertake IRT and the RAFFT within 6 months of commencing employment (if required).

Annual Salary and Leave.  Pay will be in accordance with the pay scales published for the reserve air forces.  Leave entitlement is detailed in JSP 760.

Accommodation. Personnel serving on FTRS(LC/HC)/ADC TCoS are eligible to occupy Single Living Accommodation (SLA) if available, at entitled rates, if serving within the Air Command TLB. However, due to a severe shortage, it is unlikely that accommodation will be available at RAFC Cranwell.
