Unit Role: 3 R WELSH is the only Army Reserve (AR) Infantry battalion based in Wales. Currently the Headquarters is based in Cardiff with company locations in Swansea, Pontypridd, Cardiff, Colwyn Bay and a newly formed rifle company in Wrexham. This is the Advert for the Bn ROSO.  We are currently paired with 1 R WELSH who are in an Armoured Infantry (AI) Role. 3 R WELSH sits within 12th Armoured Brigade Combat Team.

Position Role: Regimental Operational Support Officer (ROSO), 3 R WELSH.

Deliver an effective, inclusive Recruiting process to attract, recruit and nurture Army Reserve recruits and support whole force recruiting activity. Provide employer engagement advice and support to the CoC. Welfare support to the unit and their families.               

Responsibilities:

1.  Plan, manage, deliver and report on the Unit Recruiting Plan, identifying and exploiting regional recruiting stakeholders.
2.  Administer the recruiting and selection process, conducting Outreach activity as required in collaboration with higher formation headquarters.
3.  Act as retention lead for recruits undergoing Basic Training.
4.  Act as the Unit SME for all recruiting and retention matters providing advice, guidance and assurance to the CofC as necessary.
5.  Act as interface between employer and reservist, providing policy D&G on contracts, entitlements and mobilisation.
6.  Manage any unit welfare issues, including liaison with outside agencies, leading on WISMIS/ VRMIS as directed by CofC.
7.  Provide mobilisation support to unit staff, assisting Welfare Services in support of soldiers, family and employers during and post mobilisation.
8.  Carry out other activities; as directed by the CofC.
Cat B Licence.                         Service in or with the Army Reserve

Ideally trained in the use of DRS and attended the CoT and DTTT and Reserve Recruiters Course and the CSL D&I package. Courses can be applied for once in post.

FTRS Home Commitment Army Reserve post, Various evening drill night 19.30 - 21.30 and some travel, overnight duty and weekend work is required. Previous Army Reserve Experience is Desirable.      

The position isn't necessarily fixed to Cardiff although the HQ is based there, the selected candidate would be required to visit Bn HQ every other week and/or as directed by the CO, there are however, opportunity to wfh or from a closer ARC for majority of the working week but would be required to attend key meetings at Cardiff and subunit locations from time to time. Please speak with the Adjt to obtain clarity on 3 R WELSH blended working arrangements, as part of the units flexible working practises.
