A vacancy has arisen for a Sgt – Gnr – to serve as SNCO Phase 1 and FP training on Part Time Volunteer Reserves (PTVR) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) on 501 Sqn with an initial proposed start date being 01 Aug 2022 (or earlier). 

The successful applicant will be sole Sqn instructor directly responsible for the provision of RAF Phase 1 Basic Recruit Training Course (BRTC) and Pre-BRTC, including Force Protection training to the 501 Squadron recruits. Candidates should note that the majority of training and exercises takes place on weekends on a scheduled timetable. Other FP training may require some midweek training delivery.

Maintain up to date lesson plans, teaching notes and visual aids for BRTC trg.

To plan, conduct and safely supervise blank firing exercises as well as live firing ranges up to the level of qualification held.

Assist 4624 Sqn SNCOs FD (Regt) to organise and conduct all FP trg in support of both Sqns Ground Training syllabus iaw current training directives.

Maintain training records for all Sqn recruits regarding FP trg on the Training Attainment Record (TAR) on the DLE and all student course reports for BRTC.

Deliver professional instruction and remain up to date on all relevant FP practices relating to the delivery of FP training to the Sqns.

Support RLSW and Sqn-sponsored exercises as directed by the Sqn Trg Off. 

Whilst this is primarily an FP training appointment, there will be opportunities to support wider FD activity and deliver training (including Adventurous Training, Air Power Study Exercises and Leadership Training) in any discipline in which you hold appropriate qualifications.  

 

Must either have been, or currently be, a Sergeant RAF Regiment or a Corporal RAF Regiment eligible for promotion in accordance with AP 3392 Vol 2 Leaflet 560 and AP 3376 Vol 1. All Promotions will be ratified by means of a Promotion Board. If an applicant has been out of full-time military service and is applying for a post on promotion, they will also need to send their civilian appraisals or equivalent to evidence recent skills, knowledge and experience to be considered by the Promotion Board. Furthermore, personnel who cannot provide the minimum of 13 months service prior to reaching the Normal Retirement Age (NRA) may still apply and will be considered subject to the post sponsor securing a Conditional Extension of Service.

Must be a substantive SNCO Gnr, or currently be a Cpl – Gnr, with promotion recommendations and have completed FT2.

Hold the range qualification Q-R-SA(B)90 or higher, Q-R-SA(M)07, weapons instructor Q-R-W (SAI) and Q-R-DCCT(O).

CBRN instructor – CBRN-(I)

Defence Train the Trainer course (DTTT) or Defence Trainer course (DTc) (if not held must be willing to undergo training within 3 months of taking up post). Successful completion of this course is a requirement for retention in the post.

Previous experience in the delivery of RAF Phase 1 training.

Knowledge and understanding of RAF AP1, Ethos, Core Values and Standards.

Must have a Full UK Driving Licence (Q-D-L)

[p]Unless already enlisted in the Reserve Air Forces the successful applicant will be required to be enlisted in the Royal Air Force Reserves with a liability for call-out for permanent service.[/p][p]The appointment is on PTVR TCoS in accordance with AP 3392 Vol 7 Part 1 and AP3392 Vol 7 Part 3 Chapter 2 for an initial period of 5 years[url="#_edn1"][i][/url].[/p][p]Confirmation of appointment will depend on successful completion of a RAF Medical Board.  Personnel who do not meet the Age/Permanent Joint Medical Employment Standard (PJMES) may apply for the appointment but will only be considered subject to an executive waiver process on a case-by-case basis.[/p][p]Personnel currently serving in the Regular Royal Air Force should be mindful of the current Early Termination Minimum Waiting Time (MWT) for their respective Rank, Profession and ensure this MWT is compatible with the post sponsor’s proposed start date, prior to applying.[/p][p]Ex-service candidates who have been administratively discharged through the QR1027 process will have their applications rejected as they are not eligible to join the RAF Reserves in accordance with AP 3391 (Vol 3, Lft 207, Annex L, Para 1a).[/p][p]Personnel who qualify for a service pension should take financial advice from Defence Business Services (DBS) Pensions Department on the effect that undertaking reserve service has on their pension (details can be found on the JPA splash screen).
