The RMO is responsible for advising the Commanding Officer on all medical and health related matters and managing the Regimental Aid Post and all staff involved. The RMO may also be required to provide direct healthcare provision to the battalion or other organisations as required. The RMO’s responsibilities include:

 

1. Conduct primary healthcare (PHC) for military personnel, their dependants and entitled personnel when deployed on operations and as Real Life Support on exercises.

2. Provide pre-hospital emergency care (PHEC), occupational healthcare and force health protection with knowledge of public health, tropical medicine and CBRN medicine.

3. Assure the medical force preparation of personnel for training and operations through Unit Health Committees / PAPMIS, medical treatment and advice to the CO.

4. Be an advocate for the health of Captured Person (CPERS) and refugees.

5. Command the Regimental Aid Post (RAP) including the clinical supervision and development of personnel under your command.

6. Assist in the production of Medical Plans and assure the healthcare governance of the RAP.

Current Licence to Practise and be on the GP Register. Must have familiarity with the Defence Medical Services Intermediate Healthcare capabilities for mental healthcare and musculoskeletal injury management.
Intermediate Command and Staff College (Land Reserves), experience managing unit healthcare.  
A Regimental Appointment Board scheduled for 26 Apr 23 will consider an applicant’s last 3 annual appraisals and the CV and PPP submitted. The CO may wish to interview candidates prior to the RAB.

45 RSDs+ for role and command responsibilities. The applicant will be expected to attend Tue evening training in their Army Reserve Centre, approximately 1 weekend per month and a 2 week annual continuation training exercise or course within the training year. Applicants are required to maintain currency in their Individual Training Requirements (ITRs).

 

Candidates who have been out of regular or reserve service for more than 5 years may be considered for this appointment. Prior approval must be sought from the relevant Professions Advisor to confirm current and past experience prior to being invited to interview. Personnel currently serving in the Regular Army should be mindful of the current Notice To Terminate and Early Release policy for their respective rank and profession and ensure this is compatible with the post proposed start date, prior to applying. Personnel taking this appointment from other Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) should consider the impact on any accrued entitlements, such as leave, resettlement, pay etc and should seek specialist guidance where required as certain entitlements are TCoS specific and may not be retained or transferred on transition between TCoS.

 

In accordance with the Flexible Working (FW) Policy, Reserve personnel can request FW arrangements with their line manager. Any immediate FW requirements should be agreed with the line management at the interview stage. By default this role will come with a laptop and IT systems to allow personnel to manage their work remotely, but some in person attendance will be required.
