Military Independent Assessment Authority (MIAA) Warrant Officer
Primary Purpose:
1. Act as the lead Grading Assessor, managing the rest of the MIAA Grading Assessors daily tasking.
2. Assist the MIAA Team Leader in the day to day business of running the MIAA, ensuring that MIAA policy and Ofqual standards are maintained across EPAs by conducting IQA.
3. The WO ensures all apprentices’ achievements are fair, secure and consistent. The WO will ensure that the assessment criteria are applied accurately and consistently by the Onboard Assessors, irrespective of where the assessment takes place or who is being assessed.
Secondary Purposes:
4. Assist the MIAA Team Leader in reviewing and implementing MIAA policy, updating it as necessary in order to continuously improve upon the EPA process.
5. Manage the MIAA Administrator with daily tasking.
6. Assist the MIAA Team Leader in maintaining and developing funding models that comply with the relevant governing body policies.
Responsibilities:
7. The WO is accountable to the MIAA Team Leader.
8. Responsible for the MIAA Grading Assessors, acting as their 1RO.
9. Responsible for the MIAA Administrators.
Principal Tasks:
10. The Grading Assessor’s principal tasks are:
- Attend standardisation termly meetings with the MIAA Team Leader for EPA outcomes. Chairing the meetings as required
- Liaise/Support Branch Managers with EPA solutions.
- Moderate the physical IQA observations conducted by the Grading Assessors as required.
- Assist in the physical IQA observations of 5% - 10 % of all EPAs at various locations.
- Manage the quality assurance and approval of all EPAs.
- Manage the MIAA Administrator, ensuring that the required EPA evidence is correctly logged onto the MIS.
- Liaise/Support Onboard Assessors and Training Coordinators in the delivery of EPAs.
- Act as POC for the MIAA to arrange EPAs with Units.
- Maintain and update the IQA Sampling Plan.
- Identify opportunities to develop MIAA processes to benefit Onboard Assessors and apprentices.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of MIAA/EPA funding models.
- Implement and maintain relevant MIAA Policies.
- Brief career courses on RN Apprenticeships and EPAs.
- Collate all feedback from the Grading Assessors for the MIAA Team Leaders regular fleet updates.
Must be a serving Regular or Maritime Reserve OR8-OR9 or Ex-Regular OR8-OR9 of ANY specialisation.
a. Hold Full Driving License.
b. Excellent communication/customer service skills.
c. Good IT background/aptitude in MS Office suite of applications.
d. Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
a. Working knowledge of Defence Systems Approach to Training.
b. Working knowledge of the Royal Navy Apprenticeship Programme.
c. Working knowledge of Apprenticeships and the rules surrounding funding and delivery of Standards based apprenticeships and EPA.
d. Internal Verifier Qualification held – D34/V1/ Level 4 IQA Course
Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.
Following interviews; the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.
Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.
INITIAL COMMITMENT LENGTH WILL BE 12 MONTHS WITH POTENTIAL TO EXTEND
NB: Where the Anticipated Start date has already passed, the start date will be ASAP
Eligibility for FTRS/ADC
Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.
Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rate, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rate or more above or one rate only below the advertised rate. Applicants one rate below may be employed in the acting higher rate (excluding the advertised rate of WO2 or WO1) if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rate then the rate worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.
Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged P8 Permanently Unsuitable Naval Service through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.
Ex-Regular Reserves other ranks of an equivalent rank from sister services may apply, however will have to transfer to the RFR and conduct a period of Marinisation if they are selected as the preferred candidate.
