Vacancy detail

Position Role:  Lead the Service Complaints (Career Management) Team in the provision of comprehensive, timely and impartial advice and guidance in order to support the investigation, determination and resolution of Career Management Service Complaints within statutory guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  1. Line management and development of the SC(CM) Team (4 x HEO, 1 x EO and 1 x AO).
  2. Management and distribution of casework to VeRR Decision Bodies (1 x OF6 + 5 x OF5s).
  3. Screen all new Career Management complaints and identify scope for informal resolution.
  4. Provide SME support to ongoing investigations and ensure their completion within prescribed timelines.
  5. Provide SME support to APC Decision Bodies, to enable complaints to be decided within prescribed timelines.
  6. Provide advice to the Chain of Command, MS, DMS, APC Branch Cols and APC Career Managers on the investigation and resolution of CM-related complaints.
  7. Provide data on APC CM SC performance and deliver training to the Chain of Command, which collectively highlight trends and provide guidance on best practice for complaint prevention, investigation and resolution.
  8. Regular co-ordination and coherence of SC delivery with SC Sec.

This post calls for sound judgement, the ability to work closely with CM Branches and Army SC Sec, to deal sensitively but firmly with the chain of command and the tenacity to see an issue through to conclusion, frequently in the most trying of circumstances. Need for strong working knowledge of career management processes and the Field Army. Superior inter-personal skills are a must. Previous rank at OF4/5 level is a distinct advantage as maturity and ability to converse with all ranks, incl senior offrs, provides significant dividend.
