This is a Volunteer Reserve position in a Nationally Recruited Unit.

Position Role: Primarily to act as a Staff Officer within the HQ enabling reachback in support of Operations and tasking, with a defined responsibility to synergise knowledge and information within the GEOLOGY specialisation.

Responsibilities:

  1. To provide Staff Officer support to 66 Wks Gp HQ planning, tasking and Operations utilising military and civilian expertise.
  2. Complete HADR/RESILIENCE/CNI training and be prepared to provide a surge capacity in to the Wks Gp HQ in times of high Operational tempo to support UK and Overseas Operations.
  3. Be prepared to commit at least 44 RSDs per year to training and tasking in support of 66 Wks Gp. Individuals should not expect to serve more than 80 RSDs per year.
  4. To provide technical understanding of GEOLOGY and an effective liaison with Military personnel, Civilians, OGD’s, 530 STRE to provide access to deep KSE.
  5. Maintain links with relevant centres of academic and professional excellence. Support Employer Engagement within the Army Reserve assisting with marketing and recruitment of Materials specialists. Provide support to pre-screening, interviews and selection.
  6. Maintain professional and technical expertise in GEOLOGY and provide intelligence, design and construction supervisory capability for projects in coordination with HQ 66 and OC 530 STRE.
  7. Additional duties as directed from time to time by CO 66 Wks Gp RE or Asst Comd 170 (Infra Sp) Engr Gp.
  8. Assist in providing strategic direction to Defence GEOLOGY through participation in related steering/working groups, in consultation with HQ 66.

Chartered Engineer/Geologist.

Must be a practising in a field of GEOLOGY, operating at high commercial/academic/professional level.


ICSC(LR) (may be appointed as Acting Maj pending ICSC(LR) completion)

Army/RE (transfers from other Arms/Services may be possible)
