Vacancy detail

1. Principle 2 Star Fmn MS SO1 for COS LF.
2. Personal MS Staff Officer to COS LF and DCLF on all MS matters.
3. Act as the primary interface with the APC to enable effective manning of LFC established military posts.
4. Responsible to COS LF for the coordination of Job Specification reviews and supporting Board products (OF4 and above), Order of Merit Boards and the timely and accurate delivery of LFC Appraisals.
5. Responsible for staffing LFC UK Honours and Awards and 2* screening board.
6. Provide MS advice and informal career counselling to GS officers within LFC and OPCOM Fmns.
7. Provide Line Management to SO2 MSb, WO1 MS SAMS, WO2 MS.
8. AHQ MS Lead for ATMS implementation and subsequent Boarding use.

1. A wide range of staff experience at Gde 1.  Highly Desirable that this includes Fmn level and APC in order to build the knowledge on which to deliver professional advice.  Promotion into the post is feasible but challenging given the requirement for wide Pers experience and credibility.
2. Must have previous military Pers staff experience [Essential] - preferably [Desirable] in a range of posts delivering Pers /  HR / MS.  Service in the APC is highly desirable.  The post is a Fmn lead - the incumbent will need to become expert level at MS in short order.                                                       3. FTRS (HC) RSG. HC RSG posts are 'only open to Army officers and predominantly those who have had a full Regular Army career'.  A Reserve selection or officer with significant non Regular KSE will need to demonstrate the necessary 'expertise'.                  
4. A full career including operations is highly desirable - verging on essential - for credibility.                                              5. Fmn level staff highly desirable preferably at 2*.
Via APC FTRS OF4 Board
 This is a self-starting post – the incumbent will have regular access to two 2*s and will be expected to oversee process but critically to add value to discussions at OF 5, 1*, 2* and 3* level, to provide Career Management and personnel Courses of Action and to hold senior staff to account for MS outputs.  Comfortable as an SO1, confident, but understanding that this is a support function and that it has to be weaved around critical operational outputs.
Under Army REFORM, and the move to a Combined AHQ, the HQ Fd Army MS Tm and SO1 post has merged with the 3/4* AHQ MS Tm led by an FTRS HC (RSG) OF 5. SO1c is the lead Staff Offficer responsible for LFC (COS) but will be expected to cover 3* outputs where required.  The Combined AHQ Tm have individual output responsibilities across multiple 2* Pillars but SO2b, WO1 MS and WO2 MS work primarily to SO1c.  SO1c may have call upon other support if required. As for all MS posts - this is primarily responsible for delivery of MS to a set cohort (LFC OF 4).
