Vacancy detail

Subject to formal establishment, a vacancy will arise for a OF4 to serve as COS JSCSC at JSCSC/Defence Academy/Shrivenham on FTRS Home Commitment Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 Sep 2023.

Unit Function  

To deliver world-class education and training to leaders in order to develop the intellectual edge needed for success on operations and leadership in government.


Position Role    

To facilitate the delivery of all JSCSC activities, engage with partner stakeholders both internal and external to JSCSC. 

 1. Coordinate and facilitate the JSCSC (HQ) activities in support of JSCSC wider output.
 2. Engage with all internal and external stakeholders that have a support function in relation to JSCSC.
 3. Liaise with the separate education delivery areas within JSCSC to deconflict resource allocation. 
 4. Work in partnership with commercial providers to facilitate the level of support required to deliver JSCSC output. 
 5. Develop and manage changes to the building facilities to enhance the Course member experience and the provision of courses. 
 6. Maintain a close working relationship with the Course XOs and wider Defence Academy Delivery Stakeholders COS (DCMCI, Def Eng, DLC, AFCC) and DCDC.
 7. Act as a key member of the JSCSC and Defence Academy Senior Leadership undertaking additional management responsibilities as directed.
 8. Conduct own learning and Continuous Professional development (CPD).  Ensuring the JSCSC Course Member experience is of the highest possible standard.
 9. Line manager to SO3 Programme and Plans
10. Promote an inclusive culture within JSCSC, working to increase understanding through education and training.

Must be an OF4 of any specialisation. OF3 applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR will be considered.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

Operational Experience: 2*, 3*  HQ highly desirable.


Staff Experience:  Central Government, NATO, ΜΟD Centre, UKSC, or single services’ higher level HQ highly desirable.
