SO2 Log CSS, CSTTG CAST(S) (20884)

Position Role: To facilitate Combined Arms Staff and Tactical Trg in a constructive/simulated environment up to and including fmn level as the CSS SME. 

Responsibilities: 
1. Observe and provide critical analysis of command and staff procedures from BG to Corps level; adopting the lead SO2 role as directed.
2. Enable and inform, as a Log/CSS expert after action reviews and formal training analysis reports providing a development pathway.
3. Provides advice and assistance to maximise benefit of delivered collective training for the training audience and their higher formation.
4. Be prepared to assist in the development of all Log/CSS doctrine, representing CSTTG at LWC level.
5. Support the development of the Tactical Estimate and associated doctrine. 
6. Site lead for Log/CSS innovation and development projects. Liaison with equipment sponsors and on-site contractors.
7. Line manager and 1RO for Facilities Manager

Through understanding of the Logistical chain and CSS CE.        

Any arm, providing they have the KSE.

Staff training and a thorough understanding of the Combat Estimate are essential.

Open to a LE officer with the right KSE.

Staff experience in a plans role on operations is desirable and adds considerable credibility.                

Recent staff experience working in either BGHQ or Bde/Div HQ desirable for credibility with training audience.  

Preferably including an operational tour or Combat Ready/Mission Ready trg progression.

Should have the knowledge, confidence and enthusiasm to successfully portray realism and urgency in procedural exercises in the constructive environment. Requires the imagination and experience to generate exercises at Bde and BG level in conjunction with other CAST OCTs to coach, direct and advise exercising HQs. Requires the technical knowledge and experience to lead on the innovation and development of Log/CSS developments. Should possess the personality to publicly review the performance of those aspects for which they are responsible. Must be able to work effectively in a small team of officers/SNCOs. Long hours are to be expected at times when training is being delivered. Post requires a conscientious and experienced officer with strong interpersonal skills, energy, imagination and a sense of humour.        An extremely rewarding job that strikes a superb work/life balance, occasional opportunities to WfH, AT, BFS and planned periods of leave.

Domestic Considerations: 
Although based in UK there may be an occasional requirement to attend exercises across the UK, in Europe and the USA. Deployment typically 4-8 weeks per year.  

Role tends to focus on long-lead large scale projects and so allows flexible working, pragmatic management of working hours, and WFH.
