Vacancy detail

PURPOSE.

a. To conduct Basic Training (Trg) of Phase One Recruits as directed by their Divisional Training Officer (DTO) and Assistant Divisional Training Officer (ADTO), in accordance with HMS RALEIGH Establishment, Specialist Training and Initial Naval Training Standing Orders (INTSOs).
b. To be the Divisional Senior Rate to Phase One Trainees in their Charge.

SUPERIORS.

a. The DTI is accountable to DTO via ADTO for the routine management of:
(1) High standards of trainee Trg.
(2) Trainee Care and Welfare.
(3) Phase One Trg serials within the Divisional footprint.
b. The DTI is under the functional Authority of the First Lieutenant for HMS RALEIGH establishment Duties.

AUTHORITY. The DTI is:
a. Authorised to:
(1) Conduct all aspects of Divisional Trg required for the successful delivery of the 10-week INT(R) course.
(2) Recommend Remedial Trg to ADTO.
(3) Demand and expend Naval Stores in support of the Trg task within HMS RALEIGH and Division specifically.
(4) Liaise with outside agencies for matters affecting Trg within Division, as delegated by ADTO.
b. Given Authority over:
(1) Stream Divisional Leading Hand (DLH).
(2) All Divisional Phase One Rcts.

TASKS

a. Management of Rcts’ Trg, Care and Welfare iaw BR3 and INTSOs as Divisional PO:
(1) Contact Rcts prior to joining and complete all Joining, Discharge and Handover routines and administration.
(2) Conduct of Divisional Care and Welfare Duties and routines.
(3) Recommend and Conduct Remedial Trg Routines under direction of DTO/ADTO.
(4) Complete Rct SJAR processes, including Mid-Period Appraisals (MPARs).
(5) Recommend Training Warnings and complete processes iaw INTSOs.
(6) Liaise with INT(R) Outstations ref Rct Trg and administration, iaw DI guide.
(7) Issue and maintain Daily Orders iaw INTSOs, DI guide and the Live 10 Wk Programme.

b. Conducting Trg serials as mandated within the INT(R) Trg programme iaw INTSOs, DI guide and the Formal Training Statement (FTS), in order for Rcts to meet Training Performance Statement (TPS):
(1) In all Learning Environments iaw the INT(R) Trg programme.
(2) Iaw INT(R) ISpecs and ASpec.
(3) Promote and inculcate a Coaching Culture within Division and wider INT(R).
(4) Instruct to standard req’d iaw JSP822 and DCTS (DTTT).


c. Trg Administrative processes within INT(R) HQ and Division.
(1) Complete all paperwork and Course Administration iaw INTSOs and DI guide.
(2) Continuous improvement and maintenance of Trg Documentation iaw INTSOs and INTTMs.
(3) Complete INT(R) administrative tasks as directed by INT(R) HQ and Divisional hierarchy.

d. Block Management duties as delegated and directed by ADTO.(1) Maintain high standards of cleanliness, security and repair within INT(R) spaces and areas iaw ESOs, INTSOs and local procedures.
(2) Ensure Rct H&S compliance within INT(R) spaces and areas.

e. Trg Spt administration, including as member of Exercise Management Team.
(1) As directed by INTSO3TS in support of the INT(R) Trg Exercises.
(2) Management of the High Ropes facility.
(3) Co-ordination and booking of Staff trg iaw the INT(R) Induction Process, INTSOs and DI guide.

f. Conduct secondary Duties as directed by INT(R) Hierarchy.
(1) Carry out additional duties or taskings as directed by Command in support of the INT(R) Trg mission.
(2) Carry out additional Establishment duties as required under the authority of Captain HMS RALEIGH.

Must be an OR6 of ANY (PTI preferred) specialisation. OR4 applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent SJAR may be considered. 

OR7 applicants, if successful, will only be paid as and normally wear the rank of OR6.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

PTI desirable
FMT 600 (ADP).

Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Following interviews; the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.

The start date is the anticipated one however, applicants should be aware a number of factors will potentially impact on this including the completion of pre-employment checks, medical category confirmation and the award of a Security Clearance. The start date could therefore be adjusted as appropriate – earlier for a fully qualified person with their and the employers agreement, or later if approvals cannot be immediately completed.


INITIAL COMMITMENT LENGTH WILL BE 24 MONTHS WITH POTENTIAL TO EXTEND

Eligibility for FTRS/ADC

Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.

Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rate, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rate or more above or one rate only below the advertised rate. Applicants one rate below may be interviewed at the discretion of the Line Manager and may be employed in the acting higher rate (excluding the advertised rate of WO2 or WO1) if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rate then the rate worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.

Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged P8 Permanently Unsuitable Naval Service through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.

Ex-Regular Reserves other ranks of an equivalent rank from sister services may apply, however will have to transfer to the RFR and conduct a period of Marinisation if they are selected as the preferred candidate.
