Vacancy detail

Domestic Considerations: 180 RSDs per year. Army/Regular Reserve post, some travel and overnight duty may be required.
Position Role: Provide J2 support to the SBO C2 HQ and supporting Force Elements.  Monitor the intelligence feeds and identify threats to the Strategic Base from tactical to strategic level.  Support COS in the development of CONPLANs to safeguard FEs operating in the SB and provide awareness of real time J2 threats to the SBLP.  J2 Principal advisor to Hd DSCOM and the AHs.  Works closely with the COS and has close relationships with external stakeholders pan Defence and with OGDs.  
Responsibilities:
1.    Assist SO2 J6 and the COS in the maintenance and preparations for Business Continuity Planning.
2.    Identifies Strategic, Operational and tactical level threats/opportunities and maintain awareness of cyber-attack threats and risks.
3.    Draft and maintain the J2 intelligence picture, contribute to CONPLANS and reversionary modes of Comms as required in the event of a pending attack.
4.    Monitor and maintain awareness of J2 threat levels and ensure the Hd DSCOM is updated with CCIRs, PIRs and CIRs as part of the daily battle rhythm. 
5.    Identify IM/IX opportunities through intelligence feeds to counter the J2 threats.
6.    Develop relationships with the DI community and maintain a regular feed of and updates.
7.    Maintain strong links with Communication nodes and ensure that the LOs are cognisant of the J2/6 threats to the SB.
8.    Assist COS in the implementation of J2 lessons identified and captured with SO2 Continuous Improvement.
9.    Direct J2 security measures and ensure adherence to J2 policy and implementation.
10.    Contribute to the Plan on the Shelf planning and provide the J2 interface during red-teaming s part of the War Game

Demonstrates critical application of available information to arrive at sound and timely decisions; must be able to understand intelligence handling and must be able to make judgements regarding the use of very sensitive intelligence as the tactical, operational and strategic levels.

Staff experience in a Joint environmen and with OGDs 

Relevant CI or Protective Security Management Qualification

Knowledge of Log IS

Experience of J2 comminity and its interfaces.
