Army Training Unit (West) - Cardiff UK - Plt Sgt required to support Phase one training Sgt, SSgt Training new reserve recruits to join the field Army (Solider Academy)

Responsibilities:

1. Perform the duties of a Pl Sgt delivering Army reserve basic training in the delivery of training of up to 48 Recruits.

2. Deputise for the Platoon Comd when required and be prepared to cover any of the Section Commanders

responsibilities.

3. Manage Pl administration in barracks and in the field.

4. Responsible for all matters regarding discipline and training of Pl staff and recruits.

5 Fully current with all aspects of basic training delivery as directed by the CoC.

6. Principal instructor in the delivery of all foot drill.

7. Act as a role model and mentor to Sect Comd, ensuring they deliver training to a high standard.

8. Be responsible for the issue, accounting and receipt of all Pl weapons, ammunitions, stores, equipment and rations.

9. Responsible for upholding Core Values and Standards in Pl staff and recruits.

Recommend by your CoC for phase 1 training

Experience of Pl/Tp Sgt is desirable, experience of operating in a Ph1/2 unit desirable.

Credibility and the ability to relate training to Ops

Experience in Cbt/Trg in ATU/OTC an advantage

About Us: We are a satellite training location offering reservists the opportunity to train locally over weekends and through modular courses. Our unit is small, with approximately 60 personnel, and consists of a headquarters in Exeter and two training companies based in Exeter and Cardiff. We welcome and train reserve recruits from across the UK, providing a supportive and professional environment for their development.

About the Role: The primary aim of this role is to support Phase 1 training for reservists. This is a busy and demanding post within the ATU’s I Company, requiring a dedicated and dynamic individual who can lead by example and embody the Values and Standards of the Army.

As a Platoon Sergeant, you will:

• Lead and inspire recruits, acting as an exemplary role model.
• Deliver high-quality training in both classroom and field environments.
• Deploy in the field, demonstrating physical robustness and competence.
• Support the planning and delivery of training programmes.
• Work closely with the Training Officer and other instructors to ensure the success of training activities.
