Unit Role:  To provide a properly resourced, secure firm base, to support the Mission of resident HQs.

Position Role: To act as the Officer in Charge of People, Engagement & Plans for Northwood HQ. 

Responsibilities: 

1. To act as principal OiC of all personnel within Northwood HQ UPO, providing Command oversight and supporting the UPO Office Manager, acting as 1RO/2RO as required. 
2. To provide Tier 2 Compliance & Assurance oversight of the UPO & Cash Office.
3. To act as the Delegated Authority for all J1 Unit HR staffwork, including but not limited to PACCC Casework, SSSA Applications, and delegated Pers Admin documentation.
4. To act as OiC of all personnel within Northwood HQ Gymnasium, providing Command oversight and supporting the Gym Manager, acting as 1RO/2RO as required.
5. To lead on development of Plans and Coherence for Northwood HQ under the direction of CO/2iC, undertaking projects as required to sustain HQ development.
6. To promote engagement with Northwood Lodger Units and the wider Northwood Community on behalf of CO NWD.
7. To support the 2iC in oversight of and support to the Welfare and Community Support team.
8. To undertake any additional tasks as required by the CO/2iC Northwood Headquarters. 

Domestic Considerations: Accommodation can be provided iaw FTRS FC provisions.

Service/Arm/OGD - N/G/A/J1 - Essential     

Fields/Trades - Personnel - Essential - A good understanding of the Tri-Service J1 policies is essential

Must be an OF2  of RN Logistics GS (OF) specialisation. OF1 applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR may be considered. 

OF3 applicants, if successful, will only be paid as and normally wear the rank of OF2.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

Education/Training

Military Quals    ILOC(M)    Desirable    This position would suit a former RN Logistics Officer due to the J1 knowledge required.

Other Quals/Competencies    Project Management    Desirable

Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Following interviews; the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.

The start date is the anticipated one however, applicants should be aware a number of factors will potentially impact on this including the completion of pre-employment checks, medical category confirmation and the award of a Security Clearance. The start date could therefore be adjusted as appropriate – earlier for a fully qualified person with their and the employers agreement, or later if approvals cannot be immediately completed.


INITIAL COMMITMENT LENGTH WILL BE 24 MONTHS WITH POTENTIAL TO EXTEND

NB: Where the Anticipated Start date has already passed, the start date will be ASAP


Eligibility for FTRS/ADC

Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.

Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rank, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rank or more above or one rank only below the advertised rank. Applicants one rank below may be interviewed at the discretion of the Line Manager and may be employed in the acting higher rank if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rank then the rank worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.

Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged P8 permanently unsuitable Naval Service through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.
