Domestic Considerations:  The LOCC operates 24/7 without exception.  LOCC Watchkeepers work within a day or night shift rotation of 12 hours on each shift.  The shift rotation follows a 8 week pattern which starts with 7 days on night duty in the LOCC, followed by 5 days on standby (at 12 hours' notice to return to the LOCC in exceptional circumstances to cover operational surge, a crisis or the unexpected absence of another team member), then 2 days on days, 14 days on standdown (R&R), 7 days on nights, 7 days standdown (R&R), 7 days on days and then finishes on 7 days on standdown (R&R).  There is no entitlement to Single Living Accommodation (SLA) with this role.
Position Role: The 8 x LOCC Watchkeepers (Wkpr) are each responsible for the control of initial reaction to all operational inputs and initiating subsequent operational outputs while liaising with fellow ASAR team members and Staff Officers from within the LOC, Fd Army and wider Defence at the 1* to 4* Headquarters levels.
Responsibilities: 
1. Monitoring of multiple voice (Vx) and data (Dx) communication systems for UK and overseas operations. 
2. Monitoring and responding to real-time incidents and threats using sophisticated Open Source reporting assets.  
3. Manipulation of high-end tracking systems to provide real-time information on LAND, AIR and MARITIME deployments overseas. 
4. Initiating incident and crisis response working within OODA loop (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act) protocols.
5. Working within a cohesive team of professionals to support the production of briefing products used for decision making at the 1* to 4* Commander level.
6. Maintenance of the operational Battle Rhythm (BR) within a busy Operations Room at the forefront of the Land Components contribution to UK Defence.  
7. Briefing Staff Officers working within Global Framework Operations Teams on current events influencing UK Defence activities.
A good working knowledge of MODnet and standard Microsoft Office applications at a basic user level. 
Experience of working in an Operations Room or similar environment is desirable.

The Land Operations Control Centre (LOCC) is the 24/7 Operations Room and Incident / Crisis Control Point for Land Operations Command, part of HQ Field Army.  The LOCC's mission is to provide SA, MONITOR and INFORM (up, across & down) on Reports and Returns (R2) and Open Source information having an impact upon Force Elements (FE) and Service Personnel (SP) under Full Command (FULLCOM) Chief of the General Staff (CGS), Operational Command (OPCOM) Commander Field Army (CFA) or Operational Control (OPCON) Chief of Staff Fd Army (COS Fd Army) deployed overseas, in order to PROTECT and SUPPORT Command and Control (C2).  The environment will provide an operationally based challenge at times of international crisis where UK Defence must be engaged, while also enabling LOCC team members to enjoy extended periods of time at home as compensation for their hard work.
