Unit Role: 

University of London Officers' Training Corps (ULOTC) is to develop the leadership potential of selected students and Army Reserve potential officers, and to promote the Army’s ethos and career opportunities in order to secure commitment to the Army, first as officers, but also as future leaders in their chosen profession who will champion the Army in society. 

Position Role:  

Company Sergeant Major, Canterbury Detachment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise the successful execution of the Unit Training Directive, monitoring the quality of imaginative and challenging training, and instructional standards
  2. Assist, and where necessary, providing the detailed co-ordination of training programmes. This may include the booking of ranges and training areas, land clearances and bids for other training resources.
  3. Maintain discipline and standards, whilst nurturing the social and moral development of OCdts.
  4. Working alongside regular PSIs this role demands a flexible approach to working practices and an ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
  5. Subsidiary tasks will vary markedly according to the unit,
  6. All other duties particular to the unit as directed by the Officer Commanding London UOTC.

RSDs:

35 - 60

Routine:

Parade Tuesday evening during University term time (1745-2100 approx) - new training year starts Sept/Oct. Approx 7 Green Weekends, ATE July as well as various Special to Arm visits and Leadership events.

DTTT / COT - but can be completed in post as in-camp training.
