Position Role:   Principal Training and Welfare Officer within HQ AWS.

Responsibilities:

  1. Co-ordinate the training of staff across AWS both military and civilian. This includes the selection and training of all Army Welfare Workers (military and civilian). Issue and maintain relevant Defence Notice Instructions (DINs), publications and notices; lead for all induction training.
  2. Coordinate and manage all AWS training, resources and budgets, including requests for contract action (RCA); lead in the delivery of the overall AWS training plan; provide oversight of externally provided resources.
  3. Responsible for the overall delivery (including content) and contract management of the Unit Welfare Officer (UWO) and Unit Welfare Office Staff training courses; act as Secretary to the UWO Stakeholders Management Board.
  4. Support the delivery of presentations and briefings to external courses (including CO Designate, Regimental Administrative Officer, Unit Welfare Officer, Captains, Adjutants and Chaplain General) as directed by CO AWS.
  5. Assist in the implementation of key recommendations from Army HQ/HC directed change programmes as they affect the AWS; implementation that will continue beyond 2018.
  6. Conduct duties of UWO, lead VRM and support CMCR for AWS to ensure first line welfare of AWS is being cared for.
  7. Lead staff officer to ensure military AWWs are FGen and prepared to provide operational support and coordinate the delivery of overseas welfare STTTs in support of Fd Army.
  8. Coordinate Comd Gp conferences as directed by CO AWS. Centralise, where practicable, cross-AWS training activities such as first aid at work courses.
