FTRS - Home Commitment

Vacancy detail

Primary:

To ensure the provision of timely, accurate and operationally effective environmental and geospatial support.

Secondary:

a. Brief Sqn aircrew, DCF, DOO/DOC and ATC Supervisor on current and forecast weather.

b. Produce low-level weather forecasts for low-level flight and target acquisition.

c. Produce medium-level weather forecasts for medium-level flight.

d. Produce en-route wind speeds/sea state and sea temperatures for survival considerations.

e. Produce electro-optic forecasts.

f. Produce tactical forecasts up to OFFICIAL SENSTIVE, as requested by customer, utilising Met office TDAs only

g. Produce weather forecasts to inform the planning process beyond a 24-hour period.

h. Answer ad-hoc enquiries on current and forecast weather throughout the UK and occasionally overseas.

i. Produce Marham X-Section, TAFs, METAR reports, TRENDS and forecasts.

j. Provide cross-wind information for ATC during Airfield opening hours.

k. Produce planning weather forecast matrix to inform and update decision making regarding airfield operations within a 72-hour period.

l. Supervise weather observational data to meet ATC requirements.

m. Compile weather observational data from other RAF stations to meet ATC and aircrew requirements.

n. Compile weather forecasts from other RAF stations to meet ATC and aircrew requirements.

o. Maintain records of observations, TAFs, forecasts and warnings as required for legal verification purposes.

p. Support visiting aircraft as required.

q. Produce and monitor met warnings.

r. To be a divisional Senior Rate and 1RO to AB(HM)s

s. Drive Unit Vehicles as directed.

t. Maintain forecasting qualifications on JPA:

CMS|Annual OPS Meteorological Forecasting|Navy|
Professional|Meteorological Bench Forecaster Marham|Navy|

u. Responsible for all Met related products that leave RAF MARHAM Met office, whilst on watch.

v. Carry out additional tasks as directed.


Must be a serving Regular or Maritime Reserve  OR6-OR7  or Ex-Regular OR6-OR7 of WARFARE HM   specialisation.

The PO (HM) Forecaster is to be trained or qualified in the following:

a. HM 206 PO (HM(M) Career course.
b. RPS for PO (HM) Forecaster.
c. Senior Rates Leadership Course (SRLC).
d. Induction Training for RAF MARHAM Met Office.
e. CBRN|Embarked Forces Sea Safety Course (EFSSC) (CBRNDC 1C) Joint
f. Defence Information Management Passport-Information Matters.
g. DII - User - Stage 1 - Common - v8.0
h. ARC GIS Basic User.
i. Defence Intranet – Core Publisher.
j. Annual MOD 1 common core skills.
k. Annual Fire training.

l. Annual Security training.
m. Cat B driving licence.
n. FMT 600.
o. Airfield Driving Permit.

Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Following interviews; the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.


INITIAL COMMITMENT LENGTH WILL BE UP TO 12 MONTHS

NB: Where the Anticipated Start date has already passed, the start date will be ASAP


Eligibility for FTRS/ADC

Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.

Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rank/rate, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rank/rate or more above or one rank/rate only below the advertised rank. Applicants one rank below may be employed in the acting higher rank (excluding the advertised Rank of WO2 or WO1) if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rank/rate then the rank/rate worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.

Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.

Applicants of an equivalent rank from sister services may apply, however Ex-Regular or Volunteer Reserve Officers and Volunteer Reserve Other Ranks will only be accepted if they are FIRST accepted into the RNR or RMR and only if an appropriate specialisation sponsor can be identified to sponsor the applicant. Ex-Regular Other Ranks will be accepted but will have to transfer to the RFR.
