Be part of a specialised, National Reserve sub-Unit of 37 personnel that delivers Infrastructure for Defence and other Government Departments. Roles include all aspects of design; construction supervision; commissioning; inspections; etc.

As a Design Officer you will:

Lead on technical tasks.

 A Design Officer may be tasked to lead a small team of professional engineers in the production of design work for military clients.

 As part of the STRE command group an OF1 would be expected to take an active part in the leadership of the team, including planning and leading on least one training event per year, and writing Annual Appraisal Reports for some team members

BEng or MEng degree in either Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or similar discipline, or similar KSE gained from experience perhaps combined with HNC/HND.

 Experience of similar civil, structural or consultant engineering in industry.

 Practical Project Management experience. Some experience and appreciation of commercial aspects of engineering.

 Knowledge of H&S as appropriate to construction and engineering including CDM.

 A Design Officer will probably be planning to work towards IEng or CEng status or may already be somewhere on that process.

 Military competences appropriate to OF1 level.

There are multiple opportunities from Spr to Capt across 170 (Infra Sp) Engr Gp. 

Individuals of any rank with any Infrastructure KSE will be considered.



Selection will be made by Unit Board.

Board will consider: civilian CV; relevant competence; relevant qualifications and service history.

170 (Infra Sp) Engr Gp has a wide range of employment opportunities for Infrastructure Specialists across a variety of disciplines including: construction; water; fuels; power; railway; ports; geology; critical national infrastructure.
