To Militarise and Marinise. Turning civilians into sailors to meet the future needs of a modern Royal Navy.

Position Role

The Post Holder’s primary purpose is to ensure the Establishment adheres to IM Policy and is accountable for information processes in the organisation. They advise and support the Senior Information Officer (SIO) and are responsible for ensuring that information is being captured, stored, distributed, used, retained, and eventually disposed of, in accordance with the law, MOD policy and guidance as well as local instructions. The incumbent Whether in operational or administrative environments, good exploitation of information dep is also responsible for ensuring all IT services are Delivered, Maintained and Managed to maintain all outputs. This includes the provisioning of new capabilities through formal process as required. As a member of the Executive team, support will also be provided as required to the Executive chain of command as required. 

Responsibilities

Act as the IS Key Customer for HMS RALEIGH and BRNC.

Act as System Manager for the Training IS Network in HMS RALEIGH.

Represent HMS RALEIGH and BRNC at the NC ISKC Forum and Act as the Navy-IS representative for enforcement of IS Policy

Act as site lead for DII(F) for HMS RALEIGH and BRNC including the roles of Local Security Officer and Authorised Demander as required.

Undertake all IS procurement for HMS RALEIGH and BRNC

Act as Information Manager for HMS RALEIGH.

Undertake the IS requirement for projects within HMS RALEIGH and BRNC.

Act as focal point for all IS matters within HMS RALEIGH and BRNC.

Domestic

Incumbent will be employed as the Site lead for all aspects of CIS and be responsible for liaising between Navy Digital, Defence Digital and the user to ensure services are delivered to support training output.   They will be required to provide support from 0800 – 1630 daily and outside of these hours if required to support the restoration of lost or new services being delivered. The incumbent will also keep Officer of the Day duties and support Ceremonial duties.

 

Must be an OR9 to OF2 of ANY specialisation. 

OF3 applicants, if successful, will only be paid as and wear the rank of OF2.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

MOD mandated and core training (available through the Defence Learning Environment or Civil Service Learning Portal

Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Following interviews; the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.


INITIAL COMMITMENT LENGTH WILL BE 24 MONTHS WITH POTENTIAL TO EXTEND

The position start date will be ASAP

Eligibility for FTRS/ADC

Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.

Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rank, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rank or more above or one rank only below the advertised rank. Applicants one rank below may be employed in the acting higher rank if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rank then the rank worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.

Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged P8 permanently unsuitable Naval Service through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.
