This is a Volunteer Reserve position in a Nationally Recruited Unit.
As a National Reservist, be part of the HQ element of 510 STRE (Air Infra), a specialist Reserve sub-Unit of 33 personnel that delivers Air Infrastructure for Defence and other Government Departments. Unit roles include all aspects of design; construction supervision; technical advice; airfield and runway inspections; etc.
As SO2 Engr Spec your roles include:
Providing specialist Air Infrastructure advice; within the Airfields “Big 6” namely the Airfield Operating Surfaces, Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) and HV/LV Power, Fuels, Military Domestica/Technical Accommodation and Explosives Storage Areas/ Force Protection Engineering.
Lead design and project management of projects; as the Technical Staff Coordinator with the production of Technical Infrastructure reports.
Guide, mentor, training and continuing professional development of STRE personnel in the RAF/Army Air Corps/AIR environment;
Liaison with Regular/Reserve RAF and AAC Client and support unit;
Conduct general Staff Duties in support of 510 STRE (Air Infra) and its Regular Unit; 20 Works Group (Air Support) RE based out of RAF Wittering.
The successful candidate will be expected to attend at least 30x RSDs per year.
Opportunities for additional RSDs are likely
CEng status.
Have an understanding of Safe Systems of Works, have a background understanding of Defence Management Guidance 27 and Specifications for Airfields Pavement 033 and underpinning knowledge of Regulatory Articles 3000’s Series.
Previously undertaken any Airfields Authorised Person Duties within; AGL, HV/LV, Working at Height, Working in Confined Spaces, Fuels.
Have technical knowledge of general and/or digital Air Traffic Control towers.
Currently employed, or relevant experience in civilian industry.
Practical Project Management experience. Some experience and appreciation of commercial aspects of engineering
