Vacancy detail

Primary Purpose:  The primary role of the RN Observer Instructor (3) within the WTC is to provide instruction to Royal Navy Wildcat Maritime aircrew attending courses delivered in the Wildcat Training Centre (WTC) and to aircrew undergoing continuation training.


Secondary Purposes:  The post holder is:

a.    To provide user feedback to the Senior Naval Instructor WTC on the effectiveness of Wildcat aircrew synthetic training devices. 

b.     To provide training for aircrew from other Services/Organisations as directed by NCHQ and Wildcat PT.

c.     To provide support to DE&S in the development, tuning and testing of the ATE.

d.     To progress the development of scenarios to effectively meet the courseware and continuation training requirements. 

e.     Further minor secondary responsibilities as agreed with the SNI to take suitable responsibility of areas of teams output, such as management of records, programming or other unit support function.

Principle tasks:

The principal tasks undertaken by the RN Observer Instructor within the WTC are: 

a.    To provide simulator training and assessment of student aircrew undergoing CTT and CTR on the Wildcat HMA Mk2.

b.    To provide continuation training for all Wildcat HMA aircrew.

c.    To maintain records of aircrew attendance and performance in the Simulator, including monitoring of MAST through use of the WTC Training Management Information System (STARS).

d.    To participate in the development and management of Scenarios within the LPSG  to support training and MAST requirements.
 
e.    To participate in the review of courseware relating to the STE elements of CTT and CTR.

f.    To represent NCHQ as the aircrew simulator SME as required.

Must be an OF2-OF3 of WAR FAA O specialisation. OF1 applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR will be considered. 

OF4 applicants, if successful, will only be paid as and wear the rank of OF3.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

Applicants must be qualified Wildcat Observer or Lynx Observer willing and able to complete conversion training (with associated RoS of 36 months). QOI Qualification (B1 or A2) is required. Recent experience and currency on type preferred.      

The post holder must:

a.    Be a QOI.

b.    Be in date for Flight Safety Course.

c.    Have completed DTTT course.


      

The post holder should:

a.    Have completed ICSC(M).

b.    Be of rank at least OF2 (X)O.

c.    Have completed at least 1 Wildcat flying tour.

Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Following interviews; the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.


INITIAL COMMITMENT LENGTH WILL BE 3 YEARS (3.5 IF CONVERSION TRAINING REQUIRED) WITH POTENTIAL TO EXTEND

The Anticipated Start date date will be 1 OCT 21 or ASAP after this date.

Eligibility for FTRS/ADC

Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.

Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rank, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rank or more above or one rank only below the advertised rank. Applicants one rank below may be employed in the acting higher rank if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rank then the rank worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.

Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged P8 permanently unsuitable Naval Service through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.
