Subject to formal establishment, a vacancy will arise for a OF4 to serve as JW SO1 WARGAME Project Officer at Joint Warefare, JFD, Northwood on ADC, VERR, or RSD Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 17 Jan 22.

Up to a maximum of 90 days, the Project Officer (PjO) will be required to act as a Staff Officer/Staff Planner to the Project Lead and work closely with him and other members of the project team to develop and deliver wargame planning and facilitation projects between Jan – Jun 22. With the potential to extend on review thereafter.

The PjO will be required to travel across the Defence estate periodically and to be available for duties on average of 3 days per working week.  Pj progress meetings will occur weekly either by Skype/Teams or in person at NWD HQ.

The PjO will be required to regularly laise and coordinate across JW/JFTI/JWST to gather information, coordinate activity and optimise outputs within the wider JW/JFTI program.  
Deliverables will include maintaining the suite of project management, status tracking and risk management tools, site visits, recces and rehearsals, preparing and delivering briefs, presentations and project update reports, and managing physical and electronic correspondence with Wargame/TTX participants within MoD, X Gov agencies and partners, FLCs and internationally as required.  
The PjO must have the confidence and personal presentational skills to be able to act as a coordinator, facilitator or deputy director for wargame and table top exercise activities involving commanders and staff from across UK StratCom and the Front-Line Commands. 
The position requires evidence of familiarity with British Defence Doctrine, Military Strategy and a willingness to become familiar with the 2021 Integrated Review, and other defence concepts

The PjO will be assigned to assist JW core staff in the design, planning, delivery and exploitation of one of more of these tasks between Jan 22 and Jun 22.  Specific details on which tasks will be confirmed on appointment in discussion with Head Joint Force Training & Integration.  Opportunities to extend the PjO beyond Jun 22 will be considered by end of Mar 22 and be subject to performance, requirement and JWAC funding profiles for FY22/23. 

Must be an OF4 of any specialisation.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

The SO1 WARGAME Project Officer role requires evidence of familiarity with British Defence Doctrine, Military Strategy and the 2021 Integrated Review as well as:

Previous experience at SO1/2 in a Formation Headquarters environment
J3 and/or J4 experience.
