The MTO is the senior officer in charge of the Battalion MT and is responsible for the MT Section and all matters relating to Unit Defence Transport management.

 

1. The MTO is to deliver efficient, effective and safe transport to support Bn training and operational commitments.

2. Duties will mainly concern the management of the MT Section, including discipline, training, career management, welfare and ensuring that health and safety standards are maintained.

3. The MTO will be responsible for the planning of and supervising all internal MT courses.

4. The MTO will be responsible for ensuring that the MT fault reporting system is maintained and in accordance with current regulations.

5. To supervise that the overall standards in the unit MT fault reporting and servicing systems are maintained and upheld.

6. The MTO is to ensure that all vehicle log book details are accurately maintained and recorded.

7. Responsible for all aspects of driver training, including the timely preparation of candidates conducting of UK Theory Testing.

8. The MTO will supervise the maintenance of a register of all Unit drivers and their up to date driving qualifications, which will be carried out by the MT CSjt (V).

9. The MTO is to review all RTA files, ensuring that the CO is briefed swiftly and fully.

Motor Transport Officers Course, Intermediate Command and Staff College (Land Reserves), Platoon Commanders Battle Course (Reserve), experience with logistics and transport.
A Regimental Appointment Board scheduled for 26 Apr 23 will consider an applicant’s last 3 annual appraisals and the CV and PPP submitted. The CO may wish to interview candidates prior to the RAB.

30 RSDs+ for role and command responsibilities. The applicant will be expected to attend Tue evening training in their Army Reserve Centre, approximately 1 weekend per month and a 2 week annual continuation training exercise or course within the training year. Applicants are required to maintain currency in their Individual Training Requirements (ITRs).

 

Candidates who have been out of regular or reserve service for more than 5 years may be considered for this appointment. Prior approval must be sought from the relevant Professions Advisor to confirm current and past experience prior to being invited to interview. Personnel currently serving in the Regular Army should be mindful of the current Notice To Terminate and Early Release policy for their respective rank and profession and ensure this is compatible with the post proposed start date, prior to applying. Personnel taking this appointment from other Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) should consider the impact on any accrued entitlements, such as leave, resettlement, pay etc and should seek specialist guidance where required as certain entitlements are TCoS specific and may not be retained or transferred on transition between TCoS.

 

In accordance with the Flexible Working (FW) Policy, Reserve personnel can request FW arrangements with their line manager. Any immediate FW requirements should be agreed with the line management at the interview stage. By default this role will come with a laptop and IT systems to allow personnel to manage their work remotely, but some in person attendance will be required.
