Position Role: The DTSO is responsible for assuring the application of ‘safe place’ in accordance with JSP 375 Vol 2 Leaflet 11 (Safety in Military Training and Exercises) to the training facilities. The post holder is to ensure users will comply with Standing Orders, giving guidance and direction to authorised users. The post holder will also support the monitoring of the Contractors performance in support of Op INTERFLEX
Responsibilities:
- Act as liaison officer between DIO staff and the INTERFLEX Training Delivery Unit
- Assurance of the ‘safe place’ in accordance with DSA 03 OME Part 3 (Defence Code of Practice for Ranges (formerly JSP 403)), JSP 375 Vol 2 Leaflet 11 (Safety in Military Training and Exercises) to the training areas.
- Management and oversight of Live Firing training ensuring all activity is in accordance with Defence Regulations and Standing Orders.
- Allocate and authorise Live Firing Ranges and facilities assisting the Live TSO on the Bidding and Allocations Management System (BAMS), and conduct routine range inspections
- Assist in the day-to-day logistic management of Training Camps
- Be prepared to support the management and use of other training facilities
Domestic Considerations: This role will have some requirement to operate above 48 hrs in any 17 weeks and does require weekend work

This appointment would suit an individual who has a good knowledge and experience of training requirements. Involvement in safety issues will be a key part of the role |
