Unit Function

To maximise Defence’s ability to meet the challenges of future operations by bringing science and technology to life through education and training.

Responsibilities

1.  Supervise the DCS Cyber Support Team; a mixed military, civil servant and contractor team providing technical IT support to the DCS.

2.  Co-ordinate and deliver on-premises and cloud resources to support the course timetable and external events, including desktop and laptop infrastructure, networking, cloud provisioning and physical room reconfiguration.

3.  Ensure the overall security of the network, including maintenance of configuration control and security accreditation.

4.  Develop and maintain technical and process documentation to support the DCS technical infrastructure.

5.  Deputise for and assist C2 Projects with the technical change process and running the Change Advisory Board (CAB).

6.  Ensure the overall safety of the DCS network and associated equipment, including compliance with statutory requirements.

7.  Responsible to SO2 Coord for impacting external requests for support and to C1 Facilities Management through C2 Projects for technical matters and risk management.

8. Undertake all mandatory training, including SHEF, D&I and the DefAc Induction Programme as required.

Role is of a 'hands on' technical IT manager and a background or equivalent experience in another trade is desirable. Any combination of CIDA, IT Service Management, first-line linux and windows administration, networking or cloud (AWS preferred) qualifications or competencies are desirable.

 

Must be an OR6 - OR8 of any specialisation. 

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.
