Vacancy detail

The Regimental Administration Officer (RAO) is responsible to the Commanding Officer and AGC (SPS) higher formation for the management of all unit financial and personnel administrative procedures.  The RAO will be expected to (on occasion) travel to outlying sub unit locations in Blyth, South Shields, Kingston Park and Leeds and other locations such as DTE.                                                                                     The RAO: 

Advises the Commanding Officer on all personnel administration, financial services, staff support and associated G1 & G8 matters.

Delivers personnel administration and associated G1, financial and staff support to a level which attains or exceeds Assurance requirements.

Oversees G1 preparation of the unit and its personnel for mobilisation and deployment on operations.

Is responsible for management and technical development of all administrative staff, both military and civilian, in and out of barracks, including all SPS(R) personnel, this includes delivery of STA training for SPS(R) personnel. 

Advises CO on all propriety and conduct of both Public and Non-Public funding.  Hold appointments of Imprest Checking Officer, JPA iExpense Auditor and Treasurer Officers’ Mess.

Holds Data Protection Advisor and Unit Information Manager positions. 

Specific to ARC Gateshead is Facilities manager of Napier Armoury, responsible for SHEF within estate.

Is lead advisor on all Civil Service matters; Line Manager to Band D, 3 x E1 and 1 x SZ1; CSO for all HR civil service.

Holds specific MS responsibilities to act as 1RO for 4 x PSAOs and all SPS Sgt’s and above.  

RAO Course.                                                  G1 and G8 experience                                Held RAO appt in Reg or Res major Unit.
Prior experience of working with the Reserve and/or in the Reserve G1 / G8 environment
Desirable    Previous management for responsibility for Civil Servants.
Prior experience as a RAO in the Reserve or Regular Army.
