A vacancy has arisen for a Sergeant (Any Trade) to serve as Intelligence Reserves Wg SNCO Training at RAF Waddington on Part Time Volunteer Reserve (PTVR) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 09 January 2023 (or earlier depending on the circumstances of the successful candidate).

HQ Intelligence Reserves Wg is responsible for the training of those serving on the 3 Intelligence Sqns.  Under the direction of Flight Sergeant Training and as part of a team of 6, you are responsible for the delivery of Phase 1 Part 1 Basic Recruit Training of the 7006 and 7010 (Volunteer Reserve) Sqns although you may also deliver training to personnel from other units.

As SNCO Training, you will additionally be responsible for assisting in the coordination and delivery of both Holding Flight weekends and Mandatory Training weekends.

As Reserves in general work at weekends the successful applicant will be expected to work a minimum of 1 weekend per month at Waddington or other working locations as required. The successful applicant will be responsible to SO3 Training and Operations, Intelligence Reserves Wing through Flight Sergeant Training for:

Delivery of Phase 1 Part 1 training of Intelligence PTVRs, including, Ethos & Core Values, Air Power, Roles & Duties, H&S, Traditions & Rank structures.

Invigilate and mark summative tests.

Maintenance of Training Records.

Attending Holding Flight weekends for those awaiting further training, which includes AT & FD activities.

Reporting Officer for up to 4 x JNCO trainers.

 


Must either have been, or currently be, a Sergeant or a Corporal eligible for promotion in accordance with AP 3392 Vol 2 Leaflet 560 and AP 3376 Vol 1. All Promotions will be ratified by means of a Promotion Board.

Have previous trainer experience.

DTTTv2/DTC Practitioner (or civilian equivalent).

Enhanced DBS with no markers.

Security Clearance.

Successfully have completed IMLC (or single service equivalent).

Must be able to work weekends including during school holidays.

Advanced Care of Trainees (ACoT) qualified, or willing to become qualified at the earliest opportunity.

Defence Training Supervisor qualified, or willing to become qualified at the earliest opportunity.

Drill & Ceremonial qualified.

Diversity & Inclusion Practitioner.

Human Factors Facilitator.

Full Driving Licence.

Unless already enlisted in the Reserve Air Forces the successful applicant will be required to be enlisted in the RAFR.

The appointment is on Part Time Volunteer Reserve (PTVR) TCoS in accordance with AP 3392 Vol 7 Part 1 Chapter 16 and AP3392 Vol 7 Part 2 Chapter 6 for an initial period of 9 years.

A minimum of 27 days per year will be expected including a 15-day period of Annual Continuation Training (ACT) (can be done in 3-day blocks) in order to attract an annual bounty.

Confirmation of appointment will depend on successful completion of a RAF Medical Board.  Personnel who do not meet the Age/Permanent Joint Medical Employment Standard (PJMES) may apply for the appointment but will only be considered subject to an executive waiver process on a case by case basis.

Regular Service Applicants.  Personnel currently serving in the Regular Royal Air Force should be mindful of the current Early Termination Minimum Waiting Time (MWT) for their respective Rank, Branch/Trade and ensure this MWT is compatible with the post sponsor’s proposed start date, prior to applying.

Pension Issues.  Personnel who qualify for a service pension should take financial advice from Defence Business Services (DBS) Pensions Department on the effect that undertaking reserve service has on their pension (details can be found on the JPA splash screen). Transition between TCoS.  Personnel taking this appointment from other TCoS should consider the impact on any accrued entitlements, such as leave, resettlement etc and should seek specialist guidance where required as certain entitlements are TCoS specific and may not be retained or transferred on transition between TCoS. 

Flexible Working Arrangements.  In accordance with the Flexible Working (FW) Policy, Reserve personnel can request FW arrangements with their line manager.  Any immediate FW requirements should be agreed with the line management at the interview stage.

Individual Reinforcement - Training (IRT) (Module 1) and RAF Fitness Test (RAFFT).  Reserve personnel are required to maintain currency in IRT and the RAFFT iaw the relevant TCoS.  The successful applicant will be expected to undertake IRT and the RAFFT within 6 months of commencing employment (if required).

Salary.  Pay will be in accordance with the pay scales published for the Reserve Air Forces.

Accommodation.  Personnel serving on PTVR TCoS are not eligible to occupy Single Living Accommodation (SLA). Accommodation will be provided over working weekends.
