Crucial Staff Role within Army HQ - key player in small team that coordinates and reports Fd Army Performance & Risk (P&R).

  • Primary focus on management of risk and performance with Fd Army Fmns in accordance with Defence and Army Command Plans.
  • Routinely liaise with Fmns & HQ Fd Army Risk Managers to maintain the Fd Army Risk Register (FARIL) and provide oversight/assistance with those responsible for completing input on the Strategic Delivery Synchronisation Matrix (SDSM).
  • NB: Neither FARIL nor SDSM are complicated – full on-the-job training and ongoing support provided.

Role can be fulfilled by a combination of remote and in-office working (flexible on case by case agreement).

RSD/ADC: up to 150d available in next 12mth period (flexible agreed with Line Manager).

Must be:

  • Maj (AHR/LHR can be considered if suitable knowledge, skills and experience).
  • Comfortable in pursuing OF3-5 across HQ Fd Army in completion of their quarterly input to SDSM.
  • Comfortable with assimilating the basics of unfamiliar topics and is then capable of seeking out those who can provide solutions in risk management with the risk owner.
  • Understand how individual, acute risks across the entire Land environment can compound into strategic risk capable of preventing the Fd Army from achieving its mission and tasks.
  • ICSC(L) and Staff Experience preferred - but broad Defence knowledge and demonstrable personal attributes are more important, including:
    • Problem-solving, decision-making, risk management, communication and influence, organisational and cultural awareness and understanding.
    • Forward-thinking Growth mindset and strategic awareness.
  • No further Pre-Deployment Training or Role-Specific Training required in advance.
  • OPPORTUNITY to undertake Cabinet Office approved 1 Wk Management of Risk Course to acquire recognised qualification.
