Vacancy detail

Development and delivery of horizon scanning, strategic analysis, joint concepts and doctrine in support of defence policy and strategy makers. Discharge national responsibilities for Article 36 legal reviews. SO1 DCDC Legal Spt will have specific responsibilities for:

1. Provide specialist (legal) input to DCDC outputs.
       
2. To prepare legal reviews of new weapons or weapon systems, means and methods of warfare (generic technology reviews and urgent operational requirements) mandated by UK international treaty obligations (Additional Protocol 1, Article 36).

3. Liaison with MOD Legal Adviser’s Team, single Service Legal Branches, PJHQ Legal, FCDO Legal, GCHQ Legal & OGDs, foreign ministry lawyers of other States, ICRC, British Red Cross, academia etc. as required. 
Qualified Lawyer with significant military experience and with operational law experience.
