Primary Role:

The Post Holder’s primary purpose is to instruct AETQC Technical Training in accordance with current instructional specifications and to maintain Naval Engineering Standards and Ethos, by providing currency and professional expertise in assessing the suitability of candidates undertaking Phase 2A training. This is to be achieved iaw the RNAESS Management Plan and to deliver all aspects of AETQC iaw JSP 822 BRd3 and RNAESS MTS.

POST HOLDER’S SPECIFIC TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES

1    To carry out instruction and examination both practically and orally for the AETQC, whilst maintaining Naval Engineering standards, ethos and discipline required in a Naval Aircraft environment. Whenever possible taking part in all activities involving their nominated class.         
2    Concerning themselves with all aspects of the wellbeing of the trainees under their charge with respect to welfare, duties and living conditions iaw the Supervisory Care Directive HMS SULTAN and JSP 822.    
3    Dealing with trainee’s personal matters when within their care and advising on any service matters. Bringing these problems to the attention of the relevant Professional Divisional Officer if required.    
4    Manage H&S awareness (student briefing & monitoring) bespoke to the training delivery in the classroom/training environment.    
5    Assist PDOs with training reports and records for individual students and proposing corrective action when trainees fall below standard in academics, attitude or Naval General Training. Reporting any noteworthy achievements of students to the appropriate Divisional Officer and/or Senior Instructor.    
6    Act as Module Responsible Instructor (MRI), for modules as directed by the 764 Trade Leads and Course Design Manager (CDM) ensuring that module content, training aids, formative assessments and media are relevant and up to date through a process of regular validation.    
7    To assist the Divisional Officer in Divisional Administration as required, and/or to conduct reporting responsibilities IAW 764 ITS Divisional Structure which is held in 764 Share Point/764 Management/764 AEO/General.    
8    Carry out 764 Initial Training Squadron Duty Supervisor as detailed by the Duty Roster produced by 764 ITS Exec PO iaw RNAESS MTS.    
9    To invigilate and mark examinations as detailed by the 764 ITS Senior Instructor or 764 ITS QA/Exam CPO    

Secondary Duties:

1.    To carry out additional 764 staff duties/responsibilities dependent on Position IAW RNAESS SOs, Section 2
2.    Conduct whole-ship community tasks to benefit the wider community and promote a positive image of the Royal Navy, HMS SULTAN and the DSAE/DCTT.

Must be an OR4 of FAA  AET(M) specialisation. OR2 applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR will be considered. 

OR6 applicants, if successful, will only be paid as and wear the rank of OR4.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

Must have maintained military aircraft previously.  

Highly desirable: DTc (formally DTTT) qualification.

Desirable: Instructed previously.

Appraisal Report (SJAR) recommend to instruct within a Phase 2 Training School.

Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Following interviews; the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.

Eligibility for FTRS/ADC

Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.

Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rate, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rate or more above or one rate only below the advertised rate. Applicants one rate below may be employed in the acting higher rate (excluding the advertised rate of WO2 or WO1) if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rate then the rate worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.

Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged P8 Permanently Unsuitable Naval Service through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.

Ex-Regular Reserves other ranks of an equivalent rank from sister services may apply, however will have to transfer to the RFR and conduct a period of Marinisation if they are selected as the preferred candidate.
