Vacancy detail

1. Must live within 30 mins of SPTA. Duties include monitoring training inside and outside normal working hours, plus a duty commitment. The TSM (SPTA) is responsible for ensuring the application of ‘safe place’ in accordance with JSP 375 Vol 1 Chapter 40 (Military Training for Land Systems) to the training areas. The post holder is responsible for the monitoring of training. They are responsible for ensuring the estate capacity is used to its full potential in his capacity as the intelligent supplier. They must have the correct military experience in order to be able to apply the appropriate management and oversight of all dry training activity. Assurance of the ‘safe place’ in accordance with JSP 375 Vol 1 Chapter 40 (Military Training for Land Systems) to the training areas, is a primary responsibility.  
2. Management and oversight of all dry training, ensuring all activity is in accordance with Defence Regulations and Range Standing Orders.
3. Brief and advise users on safety procedures and conduct of training.  Provide training advice and support to ensure optimum use of the training estate and enable users to achieve optimal training benefit. 
4. Assist in the management of OME in accordance with DSA 03 OME Parts 1, 2 & 3.  Contribute to the conduct of trials and/or tests of equipment; certify Free from Explosives; and supervise explosive safety.
5. As required, be prepared to support the management, and use of the other training facilities. 
6. Oversee user performance interceding and correcting non-compliance with Range Standing Orders and abuse of training facilities.                                      7. A working knowledge of the Safe System Of Work.

This appointment would suit an individual who has a good knowledge and experience of training requirements. Involvement in safety issues will be a key part of the role. The incumbent must have the experience and be physically and mentally robust enough to direct and, if necessary, impose, trg direction on units and staffs up to BG level. Previous all arms training and tactical skills up to and beyond Platoon level are extremely desirable
