Subject to formal establishment, a vacancy will arise for a OF3 to serve as SO2 J4 Military Aerospace and Airworthiness at DCMCI/JFD/DEFAC on Additional Duties Commitment (180 Days) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 Nov 2024.

Position Role
SO2 J4 Military Aerospace and Airworthiness
Responsibilities
1. SO2 J4 lead for the day-to-day management of the Military Aerospace and Airworthiness Scheme (MAAS) and related modules.
2. SO2 SME on military aerospace and airworthiness matters and adviser to Hd DASTS and Course Sponsors regarding course improvement.
3. To act as SO2 Link Directing Staff for the MAAS part-time MSc and all airworthiness-related modules.
4. Maintain currency in the development of civil and military airworthiness matters.
5. Support Continuous Improvement activities and culture across DASTS.
6. Deliver high quality briefs and presentations on military airworthiness and aviation topics.
7. Support an aviation-related STEM programme.
8. Deputise for Hd DASTS, especially on aerospace and airworthiness matters.
Must be an OF3 of Air Engineering specialisation.
Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.
Post Command (at OF3 ie SEngO or equivalent) with evidence of recent Level J experience in the operational environment.
Accredited member of the Engineering Council and/or recognised professional STEM institution (e.g. IET, IMechE, RAeS)
First Degree qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. military airworthiness or aeronautical/aerospace engineering)
Qualified in Programme / Project Management
Defence Trainer Course (or DHET)

On behalf of the MAA Sponsor and in direct response to recommendation 21.c.2 of the Nimrod Review (Haddon-Cave, 2009), this post reports to Hd Defence Air & Space Technology School for managing the delivery, and using their front-line experience to influence the content of, military airworthiness and aerospace modules at postgraduate level.
SO2 J4 Mil Aerospace and Airworthiness is the SO2 SQEP within DASTS on airworthiness matters and, therefore, must have proven and recent experience in successfully managing airworthiness risk-to-life in the demanding op environment.
