An opportunity has arisen for 30 Reserve Service Day's  as a SHEF auditor at Joint Force Development HQ for an OR7 to OF2.

Routinely the duty days for this appointment will be Monday – Friday. This appointment is for 30 days, this may be completed as 6 x 5-day weeks. However, by mutual consent it may be that fewer than 5 days are worked within a week and the remaining days to be worked are ‘carried forward’.

Unit Function 

Joint Force Development (JFD) provides the research, analysis, force development, joint training, education, doctrine and deployable joint command and control that underpin Defence. 

Position Role 

To plan and conduct first party audits of Business Units (BU) Health Safety & Environmental Protection (HS & EP) arrangements as required. 


These audits to be conducted in line with JSP 375 Management of Health & Safety in Defence Volume 2 – Audit. Travelling as required to meet and question relevant staff and review documents and information. Some of this process may be conducted virtually using Skype / Microsoft Teams. Record audit outcomes, positive and negative. Feedback on your audit findings to the BU at closing meetings. Produce post audit reports of your findings with proposed actions to address any identified non-conformance. 

Assessing how well the business unit is complying to JSP 375 requirements. Assessing Business Units compliance with Defence Safety Authority (DSA) KPI’s when applicable. 

As a SHEF auditor, you'll provide an independent assessment that an organisation's risk management, governance and control processes are operating effectively in regards of HS&EP and in compliance with JSP 375 and associated MOD policies. 

The audits produced will track assurance against the JFD Legal Register. 


ISO 45001 Lead Auditor qualified would be ideal but similar qualifications and / or relevant experience may be acceptable.
