Subject to formal establishment, a vacancy will arise for a OF3 to serve as JW SO2 JOPC Plans Coord at Joint Warfare, JFT Northwood on VERR, ADC or RSD Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 10 Jan 22.

Minimum 90, preferably 180 days depending on TCoS agreed.

Joint Warfare (JW) require Joint Operations Planning Course (JOPC) Team SO2.

The aim of the UK JOPC is to prepare officers to plan joint operations at the operational level. The course covers the principles, planning and conduct of joint and combined operations in an integrated setting. The course is optimised for UK OF3/OF4 officers and civilian equivalents who are destined for joint operational level appointments, particularly within the SJFHQ Group, PJHQ or other planning appointments.

The SO2 JOPC Plans Coord will be required to take a key role in the planning for all JOPC Team deliverables, which will include preparation for course boarding, development of Joining Instructions, engagement with external briefers and refinement of course programmes. In addition, production of all documents in relation to overseas training activities, that will include liaison with in-country Defence Attaché staff and the development of robust travel and risk mitigation documentation.

The individual should possess with drive, dedication and excellent planning and coordination skills to be part of the team delivering the highly sought after JOPC. The JOPC team delivers seven UK based 2-week courses and six 1-week overseas Defence Engagement planning courses. The courses are delivered as a combination of either face to face or via virtual means. The planning and coordination of multiple deliverables requires an individual who can grasp significant concurrent work strands. Whilst most JOPC Team output is programmed; the Team is also expected to assist with short notice planning mentoring to a variety of agencies both military and across government.

The ideal candidate should ideally have a planning and training background as they could be utilised to deliver training both in the UK and overseas as well as course development and design work under the direction of SO1 JOPC. Overseas travel may well be necessary but would not be expected if this does not suit personal circumstances. Flexible working and homeworking are available.

Must be an OF3 of any specialisation.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

Proven experience of planning and delivering training.

Good communication skills to allow engagement with senior representatives in MoD and Defence Attaché staff.

Good understanding of MS Office programmes, especially Teams, OneNote, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

A working knowledge of Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) processes.

Previous posting to a joint HQ such as Permanent Joint Headquarters or the Standing Joint Force Headquarters.

Previous attendance on JOPC.
