PREAMBLE

1.    The Commander Maritime Reserves (CMR) commands the Royal Naval and Royal Marines Reserves, known collectively as the Maritime Reserves (MR).

2.    The purpose of the MR as set out in the Command Plan is to provide sufficient, capable and motivated personnel, at readiness, to reinforce Regular Forces.

3.    The function of the MR HQ is to set and shape the conditions by which the MR are able to generate and maintain capability at readiness support of the Naval Service.

Primary Purpose:  To support Branch Manager Royal Marines in the efficient and sustainable provision of training for the Royal Marines Reserve, with emphasis on Training Requirements (Design) and SOTR setting.      

Secondary Purpose: To fulfil role as RMR subject matter expert and lead desk officer in the identification, development and provision of guidance in support of future RMR training requirements (and policy), providing support to the TDA.

PRINCIPAL TASKS

    As follows:    

a.    Lead the development and implementation of effective RMR related training requirements. 
b.    Support TRA TL as the RMR TRA in terms of function (training content/ design) and working with future projects to accept the output of Training Needs Analysis work.
c.    Support the development and implementation of Personnel and Training policy.
d.    Act as a member of RMR Other Ranks Promotion /Extended Career boards as requested by DACOS Proms.
e.    To represent TRA TL and other team members at meetings and working groups as directed.
f.    Deputise for RM SO2 TRA on wider TRA portfolio activity.
g.    Maintain a common operating picture across all RMR Individual Training activity, ensuring JSP 822 shortfalls are highlighted to RM WFPT SO1.  

Must be an OR8-OF2 of ANY specialisation.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

COMPETENCIES

The post holder is to be:

a.    OR 8-OF 2 RM/RMR or RN/RNR TM with suitable experience within RM/RMR.
b.    Previously employed in a training / training management & support role.

In addition the post holder requires the following specific competencies:

a.    IT Skills – MoDNet/Dii/Information Matters/MS Office
b.    Information Management Passport
c.    SC Security Clearance (Essential)

Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Following interviews; the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.


INITIAL COMMITMENT LENGTH WILL BE 24 MONTHS ADC (max 180 days in any 12 months) WITH POTENTIAL TO EXTEND

The start date will be ASAP


Eligibility for FTRS/ADC

Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.

Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rank, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rank or more above or one rank only below the advertised rank. Applicants one rank below may be interviewed at the discretion of the Line Manager and may be employed in the acting higher rank if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rank then the rank worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.

Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged P8 permanently unsuitable Naval Service through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.
