PURPOSES

Primary Purpose: The primary role of FWF UAS DFC is to coordinate and manage the UAS Class 1 Force Generation process to ensure sufficient FE @ R to meet the NP.

Secondary Purposes: FWF UAS DFC is to:

a. N5 Plans Officer for FWF and the conduit to RN Commitments and Station Operations and Planning team.

b. Act as principal coordinator of Current and Future UAS Operations consistent with CO FWF’s direction.

c. Stand in for FWF Deputy Force Commander (DFC) in their absence.

d. Stand in for FWF Staff Officer in their absence.

TASKS

The principle tasks undertaken by FWF UAS DFC are:

• To Co-ordinate UAS Force Generation Activity.

• To liaise with 700X NAS and NC to ensure UAS Assets meet operational tasks.

• To act as a focal point and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for RN UAS.

• To draft, plan and co-ordinate FWF activity. Liaise with stakeholders to ensure a coherent N5 outlook for FWF output.

• To assist with the direction, staffing and co-ordination of RN UAS tasking.

• To provide specialist advice regarding integration with Naval platforms.

• To provide specialist input to UAS related investigations.

• Manage and maintain UAS Air System Safety case and act as the focal point for UAS Air System Safety WG preparation.

• To act as liaison to the MAA wrt RPAS regulation and to provide specialist advice to the FW FC when required.

• Represent the FWF at UAS DDH Review Group meetings when required.

• To manage the UAS RTL and update Bow Tie Analysis on CO FWF’s behalf.

Must be a serving Regular or Maritime Reserve OF2 or Ex-Regular OF2 of WARFARE FAA Pilot/Observer specialisation.

SQEP. FWF UAS DFC should be:

a. Senior OF2 or OF3 FCS(A)

b. Pilot / Observer

c. DTM qualified with experience in Training Roles.

d. ASSCR preparation experience.

e. ICSC(M) Complete

f. Air 440 Qualified.

g. Have a current and in date Security Clearance.

Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Following interviews; the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.


INITIAL COMMITMENT LENGTH WILL BE 12 MONTHS WITH POTENTIAL TO EXTEND

NB: Where the Anticipated Start date has already passed, the start date will be ASAP


Eligibility for FTRS/ADC

Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.

Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rank, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rank or more above or one rank only below the advertised rank. Applicants one rank below may be employed in the acting higher rank if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rank then the rank worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.

Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged P8 permanently unsuitable Naval Service through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.
