PURPOSES

Primary

• To deliver Sea Res - Ship Protection Force Team Member Training (NMT 103) iaw SPECS (regular) on behalf of OC MTU.

Secondary

• To deliver instruction at MTE RAL on behalf of OiC MTE RAL, enabling the individual to remain current and competent for their primary role.
• Upon request from RNR SEA RES SO1 and with agreement form OC MTU, provide training support and SPF related assurance to RNR units.
• To provide divisional support to subordinates as required by OiC MTE RAL.

Must be a serving Regular or Maritime Reserve  OR6-OR7  or Ex-Regular  OR6-OR7  of WARFARE SEA  specialisation.

• To be a fully qualified SEA RES  / RN CPO (OR7) AWW who is trained and experienced as a SPF Manager and holds the NMT 102 and AWW 240 qualifications, with current and competent knowledge of NMT and regular courses. 

POST JOINING REQUIREMENT

The post holder is to:

• Attend the HMS RALEIGH Induction Lectures within 2 months of joining.
• Undertake Departmental Induction Procedure (DIP) within 2 weeks of joining.
• Maintain currency for mandatory Royal Navy Core Maritime Skills (CMS) continuation training requirements .
• Be current and competent in Skill at Arms (SAA) and required Range SA (B), (K) and (M) Qualifications and remain in date for Weapon Handling Tests (WHT) on weapon systems pertinent to MTU .
• Be Defence Train the Trainer (DTTT) qualified.
• Be qualified First Aid Level 2.
• To hold valid driving licence and obtain an FMT 600 (ADP) to include Land Rover.
• To be current with Dangerous Goods Policy.
• To hold a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Following interviews; the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM WF FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.


INITIAL COMMITMENT LENGTH WILL BE 12 MONTHS WITH POTENTIAL TO EXTEND

NB: Where the Anticipated Start date has already passed, the start date will be ASAP


Eligibility for FTRS/ADC

Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.

Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rank/rate, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rank/rate or more above or one rank/rate only below the advertised rank. Applicants one rank below may be employed in the acting higher rank (excluding the advertised Rank of WO2 or WO1) if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rank/rate then the rank/rate worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.

Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.

Applicants of an equivalent rank from sister services may apply, however Ex-Regular or Volunteer Reserve Officers and Volunteer Reserve Other Ranks will only be accepted if they are FIRST accepted into the RNR or RMR and only if an appropriate specialisation sponsor can be identified to sponsor the applicant. Ex-Regular Other Ranks will be accepted but will have to transfer to the RFR.
