Mission Statement:

Enabling the Joint Force to realise Class 1 UAS capability by collaboratively and coherently developing safe, innovative, agile, deployable solutions across the Battlespace; and assure aviation test and evaluation under the RN AOA.

 

The Post holder will be accountable to 700X NAS SMR for their Primary Purpose; To provide cyber focused engineering support for all squadron platforms and equipment as directed by Commanding Officer 700X NAS or delegated representative.

 

Secondary Purposes:

  1. To assist in RPAS IT systems management, providing support procedures and guidance whilst ensuring all assets are recorded and maintenance standards and practises are adhered to.
  2. To develop and conduct methods for assessing the cyber security of RPAS and any peripherals involved with their operation.
  3. To assist the 700X NAS USO and ITSO in all cyber security matters including developing robust SyOps.
  4. To assist in developing new RPAS and modifications to existing RPAS in line with applicable engineering regulations and processes.

 

Tasks:

RPAS Maintenance:

a.         Investigation of RPAS infosys faults and maintenance on RPAS systems should they require it.

b.         Demanding of spares for RPAS Infosys maintenance.

c.         Development and review of RPAS maintenance procedures.

d.         Reviewing of technical information on receipt of new RPAS systems.

e.         Providing sufficient technical information, references and advice into the maintenance section of UAS Defence Aviation Safety Occurrence Reports (DASORs).

RPAS Storeroom:

f.          Assist in maintaining the organisation of the RPAS storeroom and inventory of assets held within the RPAS Storeroom, with a particular focus on all Infosys related items.

RPAS Development:

g.         Provide technical systems guidance and designs for the development or modification of RPAS, including sensor payloads, communications systems and peripheral devices.

Must be a serving Regular or Maritime Reserve OR4 or Ex-Regular OR4 of the CIS specialisation.

The following must be held or completed in post:

  1. Royal Navy Flight Safety Course.
  2. AIR 440 course.
  3. HF/EM Foundation Training.
  4. LH WE Qualifying course.
  5. HF and EM Foundation Training.
  6. In date for BSSC or ISSC or EFSSC.
  7. Hold full driving licence with Cat D1 (Minibus)

 

  1. Previous RPAS experience.
  2. Experience with information datalinks.
  3. High literacy in Information Technology systems and processes.

Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have there details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

The successful applicant at interview will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.

Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.

Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rank/rate, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rank/rate or more above or one rank/rate only below the advertised rank. Applicants one rank below may be employed in the acting higher rank (excluding the advertised Rank of WO2 or WO1) if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rank/rate then the rank/rate worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.

Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.

Applicants of an equivalent rank from sister services may apply, however Ex-Regular or Volunteer Reserve Officers and Volunteer Reserve Other Ranks will only be accepted if they are FIRST accepted into the RNR or RMR and only if an appropriate specialisation sponsor can be identified to sponsor the applicant. Ex-Regular Other Ranks will be accepted but will have to transfer to the RFR.
