Position Role: The primary role of the Training Safety Marshall (TSM) is ensuring the application and enforcement of ‘Safe Place’ in accordance with JSP 375. The post holder is responsible to the Training Safety Officer (TSO) STANTA and ultimately the Primary Training Safety Officer (East Region). As part of the Training Safety Team the TSM’s main responsibilities will include: review and approval of submitted written documentation for both Live and Fieldcraft training and the interpretation and employment of safe Weapon Danger Area (WDA) traces, in order to authorise and monitor all-arms manoeuvre training across STANTA and satellite locations. Ensure ‘Safe Place’ through the authorisation and monitoring of ‘Safe Practice’ across STANTA and satellite locations in accordance with the Safe System of Training.
Responsibilities:
1.   Direct and regulate the activities of all User units within the areas of responsibility.
2.   Management and oversight of all Range and Fieldcraft training areas, ensuring all activity is in accordance with Defence Regulations and Range Standing Orders.
3.   Brief and advise users on safety procedures and the safe conduct of training.
4.   Provide training advice and support to ensure optimum use of the training estate and enable users to achieve optimal training benefit.
5.   Via the Bidding and Allocation Management System (BAMS), review and authorise all mandatory training documentation in accordance with Range Standing Orders, Pamphlet 21 and other documentation pertinent to the nature of training to be conducted.
6.   Assist in the management of OME in accordance with DSA 03 OME Part 2. Ensure ‘Safe’ OME storage at STANTA in line with licence permissions. Certify Free from Explosives.
7.   Detailed inspections of both Range and Training Area infrastructure in accordance with directed inspection regimes. The subsequent completion and submission of reports to Department Heads and Industry Partners.
8.   Assume role of Regional Duty Officer for a seven day period as per a staff roster.
9.   As directed, be prepared to support the management, other stakeholders and the local community. 
Range Qualification SA (90) A.                                                                          Clean CAT B driving license.               IT competency.
Additional Sp Wpn Qualification desirable.

Must live within 1 hours drive of West Tofts Camp.

Salary Range £38-£44K
