Vacancy detail

1. Lead on behalf of SC Secretary and SO1 Ops for post 2016 SC Reform matters (Wigston Review, Service Complaint, Justice and Transformation Team (SC&JTx), Army Inspectorate and DBS Harassment Investigation Officer (HIO) Review). Including advice on developing issues; process reviews, drafting responses and planning for implications of new policies.
2. Coordinate, collate and publish the capture of evolved best practice via SOPs (external facing) and SOIs (internal).
3. Focus for Performance & Risk Reporting, including through contribution to APSG input to the Quarterly Performance and Risk Reporting (QPRR) process.
4. Management of manning and the establishment, in conjunction with SO1 Ops and APSG XO, including drafting penalty statements for trawls.
5. Resource management, including the preparation and submitting of Business Cases (BCs) as required.
6. Compile wider R2 and coordinate the Secretariat weekly SITREP.
7. Through a thorough working knowledge of extant SC policy (JSPs 831, 763, ACSO 3358 and SC Secretariat SOPs) and in conjunction with the wider Ops Team, provide advice, direction and support for the progression of SCs iaw legislation and regulations.
8. Subject to reorg and SC Reform be prepared to command Joint Internal Investigation Officer capability of up to 30 pax (including MS for (currently) 5 SNCOs)). Noting the aspiration as part of SC Reform is to establish a bespoke new post for this role.
9. Surge support and deputise for SO2 Ops, including shadow cover for the weekly Decision Level Appointment Board (DLAB).
10. Support and lead other tasks as required by SO1 Ops.
Must have in-depth understanding of routine military way of life to include general knowledge of current rules and regulations.

This post would suit any competent, conscientious and IT literate Staff Officer, who has an interest in SP welfare. The successful applicant will enjoy working within a friendly and motivated mixed military and civil servant team focussed on the rewarding task of righting wrongs. Routine remote working (including post COVID) is supported and enabled with appropriate IT.  Periodic on-site attendance will be required, but is unlikely to be more than one day per week
