20 Works Group (Air Support ) RE are to prepare for and deliver consultancy, design, contract and programme management of infrastructure for Air, Aviation and Remotely-Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) tasks at readiness, in order to support Defence on both current and contingent operations. 

Provide 20 Works Group (Air Support ) RE, Defence and OGDs with military expertise in the design, construction, maintenance and repair of permanent and expeditionary Airfields Infrastructure  in order to enable operational effect with 510 Specialist Team Royal Engineers (Air Infra); 510 STRE (Air Infra). 

As sub-Unit Team Warrant Officer you will:

Manage the daily administrative and command functions of the Team; providing direction to ensure effective employment of personnel in the Unit role.

Identify opportunities to integrate the ARes cohort within Regular activities or provide timely reach-back.

Maximise numbers of ARes personnel achieving CoE.

Technical manager responsible for documentation compliance across all Team activity.

Act as technical and military advisor to shape exercise and operational task requirements for external customers.

Second line review of written technical reports.

Familiarity with highways and airfields pavements in either civilian or military environment.

SQEP within aerodromes through: civil and/or structural engineering, geology, pavement materials, fuels and utilities (power/water), technical and domestic accommodation, Explosive Storage and Force protection or similar airfield infrastructure disciplines.

Experience of soldier career management.

Desirable competencies experience working within hybrid units.

RE capbadge preferred or willingness to transfer.

Previous Airfields Technician, Clerk of Works (Construction), Military Plant Foreman, Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) or civilian equivalent Aerodrome experience would be desirable.

Familiarity with OSW.

Project management experience.

Basic understanding of LUMS applications such as ODR, Churchill etc.

 

  • Lead on implementation of Unit health and safety policy and principal advisor to OC.
  • Manage team duties (both in barracks and as specified by the ARO).
  • Lead on MATTS, SFS training and readiness compliance & reporting.
  • Day to day management of discipline of team personnel and advice to the OC.
  • Management of daily and routine team activity including FOE; acts as the primary interface with GWO & leads with input to Part 1 orders.
  • Act as the hub of team ethos and advises the OC on Team matters – including generic oversight of policy compliance.
  • Act as the senior Technical / Soldier in providing support and advice as necessary.
  • Provide support to 2IC in ensuring core military competence and training.
  • Be prepared to cover 2IC duties as required.
  • Conduct own CPD and support that of others.

There are multiple opportunities from Spr to Capt across 170 (Infra Sp) Engr Gp. 

Individuals of any rank with any Infrastructure KSE will be considered.

Selection will be made by Unit Board.

Board will consider: civilian CV; relevant competence; relevant qualifications and service history.

510 STRE Air Infra is a National Reserve Unit with reduced commitment.

Start date is negotiable.

170 (Infra Sp) Engr Gp has a wide range of employment opportunities from Spr to Capt for Infrastructure Specialists across a variety of disciplines including: construction; water; fuels; power; railway; ports; geology; critical national infrastructure.
