Vacancy detail

Subject to formal establishment, a vacancy will arise for an OF4 to serve as ACSC(R) at JSCSC, Defence Academy, Shrivenham on FTRS (LC) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of December 2022.

Unit Role

JSCSC is an integral part of the Defence Academy; the mission is to provide world-class Command and Staff education and training, to enhance operational capability, thereby advancing the Defence and Security interests of the United Kingdom.


Position Role

Provide planning, liaison, governance, and compliance capability to ACSC(R). 


Responsibilities

1.  Lead on scheduling and resourcing within JSCSC for ACSC(R).
2.  Lead on Business Cases, financial planning, and resourcing pertaining to ACSC(R).
3.  Lead on training management including compliance and governance for ACSC(R) within JSCSC.
4.  Support the XO on DSAT compliance for ACSC(R) in conjunction with the ACSC(R)DS and JSCSC J7. 
5.  Support and coordinate ACSC(R) DS on course design, learning content and courseware development.
6. Lead on management of online aspects of course content and delivery via DLE Virtual Learning Environment. 
7.  Lead on relationships with KCL for academic support to ACSC(R) purposes, including liaison over briefings to           course and all SRA deliverables.
8.  Support development Reserve DS, coordinating mandatory Directing Staff training and induction in accordance         with extant DefAc policies.
9.  Support delivery of ACSC(R) including online delivery and attending Induction Weekend and Main Residential           Phase, including preparatory phases before each.
10.  Be prepared to undertake additional tasks in support of ACSC(R) as directed, including stand-in as DS.

Must be an OF4 of any specialisation. OF3's can apply on promotion but must meet the essential criteria listed and have worked as an SO2 in a 2* HQ or greater.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

Must have attended ACSC or ACSC(R) and received DS recommendation.

Experience of handling confidential data in an MS Office environment essential.

Experience of delivery of training and/or education essential.

Experience of course and virtual learning environments (e.g., DLE).

Masters or PGDip/PG Cert - Post Graduate Academic qualification in Higher or Further Education backgrounds will aid credibility.

Must be either a Grade 1 Staff Officer or Grade 2 Staff Officer if gained in a 2* HQ or greater.

Post requires the ability to handle data complexity with confidence, accuracy, and under time pressure; successful candidate will be required to work in conjunction with the XO as the central POCs for all ACSC(R) staff and students throughout the year, specifically the DS Clinics, induction weekend and main residential phase – this will restrict leave allocation. Should be able to deploy by agreement in support of ACSC for up to 7 days.
