A vacancy has arisen for a Warrant Officer (Intelligence) to serve as Squadron Warrant Officer 7010 (Volunteer Reserve) Squadron RAuxAF at RAF Waddington on Part Time Volunteer Reserve (PTVR)Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date being 1 Apr 23.

Reporting to OC 7010 (VR) Sqn, the Squadron Warrant Officer will be a member of the Sqn Management Team (SMT) and responsible for:

Providing supervisory direction, guidance and mentoring support to the Sqn Junior Officer and NCO cohorts to both enhance the delivery of intelligence outputs and the effectiveness of Sqn personnel management, development and administration.

Delivery of capability, organisational development and welfare initiatives at Sqn level in coordination with the Sqn OC, Sqn XO and Intelligence Reserves Wing representatives.

Leading and managing subordinate development projects in order to promote professional development and maximise the utility of Sqn personnel.

Assisting OC 7010 in delivering quality controlled intelligence outputs.

Supporting the Sqn XO and Flt Cdrs to achieve KPI/mandatory training targets.

The pro-active delivery of staff engagement and welfare activity required to sustain PTVR Service ethos and Sqn identity.

     

Must either have been, or currently be, a OpAIC/OpAIC(R) qualified WO or a FS TG11 Int An eligible for promotion (Note: All personnel with 3 years seniority and a positive promotion recommendation on their current SJAR can be considered by a PSB.)in accordance with AP 3393 Vol 1 and AP 7000.

Evidence broad experience of Intelligence related operational and training matters.

Must be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge of the RAF Reserve, processes and procedures.

 

 

 

 

Completed DIAC/UKAIC/RFIAC or recognised equivalent IMINT qualification.

Completed a period of mobilised or deployed operational service.

Evidence previous experience working with PTVR personnel.

Demonstrate a previous experience in delivering effective welfare initiatives at unit level.

A Promotion Selection Board will be held for FS candidates at the Intelligence Reserves Wing Headquarters on 14 Feb 23 for the purpose of selecting RAF Reserve/Ex Regular personnel for promotion to WO within 7010 Sqn. The PSB will carry out a rigorous selection process for this post, based principally on an applicant’s last 4 appraisal reports as required

Following the PSB, FS candidates found suitable for promotion will be interviewed together with substantive WO candidates for the role of Sqn WO at the Intelligence Reserves Wg on 8 Mar 23.

Applications are sought from either:

Candidates currently holding WO rank in the Royal Air Force or Reserve Air Forces or

Those holding FS rank and able to evidence the following:

A current recommendation for promotion to fill an established vacancy in the rank of WO.

Attained the rank of substantive FS and have met any minimum qualifying period in that rank (3 years’ seniority as at the date of the PSB), as set or required by HQ Air.

Passed any prescribed trade examinations and any other conversion/further training courses required or set by the competent authority.

The appointment is for a period of 4 years on PTVR TCoS in accordance with AP 3392 Vol 7 Pt 2 Ch 6 Sect 1. Personnel serving on PTVR TCoS are mandated to work 27 days per annum in order to meet Certificate of Efficiency requirements.  

The successful candidate will be funded for a maximum of 50 days per annum to ensure they are remunerated appropriately for the anticipated commitment the role requires.

Confirmation of appointment will depend on successful completion of a RAF Medical Board.  Personnel who do not meet the Age/Permanent Joint Medical Employment Standard (PJMES) may apply for the appointment but will only be considered subject to an executive waiver process on a case by case basis.

Candidates who have been out of regular or reserve service for more than 5 years be considered for this appointment; however, not on promotion. Furthermore, prior approval must be sought from the relevant Branch & Trade Advisor in order to confirm current and experience prior to being invited to interview.

Personnel currently serving in the Regular Royal Air Force should be mindful of the current Early Termination Minimum Waiting Time (MWT) for their respective Rank, Branch/Trade and ensure this MWT is compatible with the post sponsors proposed start date, prior to applying.

Applicants of an equivalent rank from sister Services may apply, but will only be accepted into RAFR service if an appropriate Branch/Trade can be identified via the relevant Branch & Trade Advisor. Furthermore, the transfer will only be made at the individual’s current ‘equivalent’ rank and not on promotion. Finally, Branch/Trade Advisor approval must be agreed before the interview.

Of particular note is reference to the ‘Effect of Re-employment on Commutation’.

Individual Reinforcement Training (IRT) (Module 1) and RAF Fitness Test (RAFFT).  Reserve personnel are required to maintain currency in IRT and the RAFFT iaw the relevant TCoS.  The successful applicant will be expected to undertake IRT and the RAFFT within 6 months of commencing employment.

Annual Salary and Leave.  Pay will be in accordance with the pay scales published for the reserve air forces.  PTVR personnel are eligible for annual leave in accordance with AP 3392 Vol 7 Leaflet 105 and JSP 760.
