As detailed in the JS, the successful applicants will be responsible for impartial investigations of fact of Service Complaints (SC) submitted by serving or retired Service Personnel, as directed on behalf of Decision Bodies and Appeal Bodies, and IAW JSP 831 and other extant policy including SC Sec SOIs.
Allocation of investigations will be based on factors including rank, experience and availability of the postholder, and taking into account the ranks of parties involved.
The postholder will be required to maintain a comprehensive record of all interviews, discussions, instructions issued, and actions taken in the course of an investigation, and to provide the DB or AB with regular updates on the progress of the investigation including any identifiable change to the Terms of Reference (TOR). Each investigation should be completed within 30 working days (6 weeks) of the postholder being given the confirmed TOR, at the end of which they must provide the DB or AB with a comprehensive investigation report to enable them to reach an informed decision on the SC.
Close liaison with OIC SCIT on availability and the progress of each investigation is essential to achieve the 6-week deadline, and there may also be a requirement to conduct collaborative investigations as directed by OIC SCIT
The succesful candidate will be competent and efficient with the ability to prioritise work and deliver within the 30 day (6 week) deadline.
Effective verbal and written skills are essential.
Previous experience as a Staff Officer is desirable, as is experience of working in the G1/J1 environment.

Routine remote working is supported and enabled with appropriate IT. The post is part-time but will require the postholder to deliver within 30 days (6 weeks) on acceptance of an investigation.
