Command Force Development has a new lifed vacancy for an SO1/SO2 to serve on a part-time basis (up to 44 RSDs per year initially) as SO1 CFD Doctrine, UKStratCom, Northwood, focused on the progression of doctrine through UKStratCom. The post has the following primary functions:
• Lead the development of world-class doctrine for Strategic and Joint Capabilities, in close collaboration with operational customers and partners including DCDC, JW, FLCs and PAG.
• Work closely with Defence Science and Technology (S&T), Dstl and associated partners IOT ensure UKStratCom is fully informed of emerging opportunities and threats, IOT to guide UKStratCom FD, and that lessons learned are incorporated in relevant Doctrine.
• Act as the link between ongoing doctrine work with DCDC and sS and wider UKStratCom.
• Ensure that UKStratCom HQ and its HLBs are sufficiently informed and represented across the doctrine space (both UK and NATO). 
• To lead or contribute to other tasks as directed.
The post works directly to Deputy Head Strategy and Coherence.

Responsibilities
• Ensure UKStratCom supports the progression of doctrine through the appropriate approvals system. Liaison and coordination with wider UKStratCom HLBs is essential to ensure doctrine reflects the needs of UKStratCom.
• Ensure any lessons are analysed and included in future doctrine updates.
• Support UKStratCom with the identification and subsequent development of doctrine opportunities.
• Capture Lessons Identified and ensure they are communicated to the relevant organisations for action.
• Work with SO2 Concepts and Doctrine, deconflicting with SO1 Concepts, to ensure the required outputs for CFD are achieved.
• Lead or contribute to other UKStratCom tasks as directed.
• Be an OF4/OF3.

• Experience as a Grade 1 or 2 staff officer in a 1* or above Headquarters.

• An awareness of the wider perspective and landscape of the operating environment to inform decisions and identify potential impacts. 

• Strong interpersonal skills (stakeholder engagement, collaboration and coordination).

• Highly effective communication skills (written and verbal).  Able to assimilate complex or multiple pieces of information, applying informed judgement to provide a considered output.

• Basic Microsoft 365 tools (Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint, Teams).
Able to commit to 1-2 days/week Monday - Friday
• Operational and/or UK experience in the joint environment.

• Cap experience.

• Project management experience.

• ACSC

This role is for an officer in another unit with additional weekday capability to give 1-2 days/week to Doctrine and FD tasks. This will be RSDs paid in addition to those provided by the postholder’s own unit. Candidates will need to seek approval from their CoC to take on this work. DV and STRAP clearance is also helpful, but may be applied for once in role. Approx 50% will be in Northwood and 50% working from home. Reservists should be SC or DV. We will provide My Modnet laptops and UKStratCom accounts at Official Sensitive and Secret.

UKStratCom will pay full costs for the use of the Reservist (reimbursed through proven channels).
