Subject to formal establishment, Joint Boarding process and sS Policies, a vacancy will arise for an OF4 to serve as SO1 Observation and Post Exercise Reporting at Northwood, on either a PTVR, ADC, VERR or VTOD Terms and Conditions of Service (TaCoS), with an initial proposed start date of o1 Oct 26 (or earlier / later subject to candidate status)
90-120 RSDs per year are available for the right candidate to conduct the role, dependent on TaCoS.
Unit Function:
The Integrated Warfare Centre’s mission is to optimise and adapt the current integrated force, through concepts and warfare development, to support UK and NATO joint commanders to achieve operational advantage over adversaries, across the continuum of competition.
Position Role:
This is superb opportunity to fill a critical OF4 role as SO1 Observation and Post Exercise Reporting (SO1 Obs & PXR). You will work in a dynamic Joint HQ as Deputy to the OF5 Ex Obs and PXR Lead, and lead the Observer/Trainer team for IWC-delivered Tier 3 and 4 Collective Training Exercises. Between 80 and 120 RSDs are required for this role.
The SO1 Obs & PXR co-ordinates the observation and post exercise feedback for Dir IWC’s delivery of Defence and Joint collective training events.
Responsibilities:
Must be an OF4 of any specialisation. OF3 applicants with a positive recommendation in their most recent annual OJAR/SJAR may be considered for the role, subject to TaCoS.
Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.
Joint Operations, Operational Planning Staff practitioner experience.
Experience of Allied, Joint or sS Collective Training.
ICSC (M) (L) (A or IOD) or Reserve equivalent.
SC
Joint Operations, Operational Planning Staff expert experience. Formal competence not required but should equate to 2018DIN01-122.
EXCON or observing Tier 2+/3 Collective Training.
ACSC/ACSC(R) or equivalent.

Domestic Considerations:
Candidates must be available to observe and provide feedback for up to four key Defence and Joint exercises each year for periods of up to 30 days. The Defence Exercise Programme is normally set at least one-year ahead. Exercises are normally held at exercise locations away from Northwood in the UK and overseas. Ideally, the candidate would be within occasional commuting distance to Northwood for table-top exercises, exercise planning and post exercise events, noting there is currently no transit accommodation there. Hotel accommodation at Northwood and home to duty travel is dependent on agreed commitment TACOS. Some preparatory work, report writing, and administration can be done remotely.
Other Information:
Way of Working: IWC is a Regular organisation, which routinely works Mon to Fri, (0800 to 1700) it is essential that the incumbent is able to be flexible throughout the working week. The exact working days will be planned with the 1RO / Line Manager.
T&S: Subject to agreed committed TaCoS.
Accommodation: Subject to; agreed committed TaCoS, availability of transit accommodation and if required to work in different MOD locations / overseas requirements / or exercise.
Employment on Part Time TaCoS (PTVR/ADC/VeRR/ARRG/VToD): The successful applicant will be subject to the TaCoS they will be employed on / authorised.

Transition between TaCoS: Personnel taking this appointment from other TaCoS should consider the impact on any accrued entitlements, such as leave, resettlement etc and should seek specialist guidance where required as certain entitlements are TaCoS specific and may not be retained or transferred on transition between TaCoS.
Annual Salary and Leave: Pay will be in accordance with the pay scales published in JSP 754. Leave entitlement, if applicable, is detailed in JSP 760.
